Tavern Townhouse

Location is great but was a little noisy at night. The fan helped for white noise!

Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by a serious problem with the room access system. On Saturday morning, the keypad to our room stopped working and, despite reporting the issue and following the instructions provided by the property, we were unable to access our room when we returned later that evening.
Attempts to contact the property's main number and emergency contacts were unsuccessful. One emergency number went unanswered, while the other belonged to someone who had left the company several months earlier.
Thankfully, after desperation and searching the housekeeping cupboard on the landing, we located a manual master key to our room, along with master keys for several other rooms, and were able to gain access to our room. This also raised security concerns. Had we not found the master key, we would have been left locked out for the night with essential medication still inside the room.
There were also several other issues, including inadequate supplies of toilet roll and milk, a bathroom door lock that had been removed and left on the windowsill, and no rubbish bin in the room apart from the small bathroom bin.
Overall, the experience was stressful and disappointing. The keypad entry system is not reliable enough without proper out-of-hours support or a suitable backup method of access. I hope these issues are addressed to prevent future guests from experiencing similar problems.
Despite these issues, the room was comfortable and in a good location for our visit. The housekeeper we spoke to the following day was very apologetic and helpful. Unfortunately, the room access problems and lack of effective out-of-hours support significantly affected our overall experience and overshadowed what would otherwise have been an enjoyable stay

Some things needs attention:
Rail in bathroom broken
Shower loose
Light switch broken
Lack of wardrobe
Hangers provided looked taken from somewhere else - did not match the design of the room - suggest replace with some wooden hangers

Towel rail and bathroom door handle need fixing.

The location of the accommodation was good but was a little noisy from outside.

Code for room door not given, no staff so had to call, 3 times. No answer so sent an email. Voice mail doesn’t ask you to leave a msg and says there is no one available. Would be better to say, we’ll call you straight back. They said the code was on conf but that was only the main door code.

The WiFi wouldn’t work and because no staff are on site, by the time someone returned my email, we were checking out.
I think also, some nice wooden coat hangers would fit the style of room, instead of odd shop plastic ones.

We left the windows open in the evening and the staff from the restaurant below stayed very late talking.
Suggestion to have instruction on how to open locked door from inside as this was not obvious.

Property was perfect, only problem was their suggestion of where to park. The parking suggested had a max stay of 3 hours so no good for a 2 night stay!

We stayed in two of the hottest days of the year (which is saying something in 2026). The lack of air conditioning was an immediate issue.
It was so hot we had difficulty sleeping
Windows wide open, so the rubbish collection at 4am and the market setting up from 5am woke us up.

Might work better in non-heatwave summer period, although windows are “authentic” (I.e. draughty)

Not sure I like the nuki door lock system. Not helpful late at night after a long day out when your phone has no charge and you can’t remember the number. Why not write it on a card and leave it in the room?
