I had such a wonderful stay here and only wish I could have stayed longer. The location is absolutely perfect if you’re doing the Mt Rinjani hike – super convenient and stress-free.

What truly made this place exceptional, though, was the staff. Their hospitality was beyond anything I expected. They were incredibly kind, genuine, and always ready to help with absolutely everything. Nothing was ever too much to ask, and they went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. You can really feel that they care about their guests, and that made all the difference.

The breakfast was delicious, and the little houses were so cute, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing stay before or after the hike.

I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Sembalun, especially if you’re hiking Mt Rinjani.

Sehr nettes Personal, wir durften nach der Rinjani Tour nochmals duschen, obwohl wir schon ausgecheckt hatten. Betten super bequem. Die Aussicht auf die Landschaft super schön, ruhig gelegen.

L'établissement est très simpa, authentique, avec vue imprenable sur le Rinjani. Le personnel est très gentil, nous a très bien accueilli, le petit déjeuner était très bon.

Staff were very nice and breakfast was delicious.
They need finer bug nets on windows and general cleaning up of bugs and bathroom did smell a bit as other reviews have said.

Simple place. Nice view. The room is clean and big. Good breakfast and friendly staff.

What a shame, because this place has so much potential.

Our stay was disappointing. When we arrived, the room had clearly been sprayed with insecticide before our check-in but had not been properly cleaned afterwards, leaving large numbers of dead ants in the room.

We understand that being in nature means seeing insects but this went far beyond that, with ants in the bed, above us and throughout the room.

The accommodation also seems poorly built, with large gaps around the doors allowing insects and other animals to enter easily.

Cleanliness was disappointing as well. The towels did not seem properly clean and were left to dry outside directly on the ground, which is not very hygienic.

When we reported the issue, the owner came to inspect the room and simply swept some of the dead insects aside. Although he was very kind, he did not seem to fully understand why we were unhappy. We also requested to change rooms but the alternative room had a mattress with a very strong unpleasant smell.

The staff on site were kind, smiling and did their best to help us despite some communication difficulties.

The property itself has incredible potential, with a stunning view of Mount Rinjani, beautiful sunsets and strawberry farm right in front of the rooms where guests can pick strawberries during the season. The breakfast is quite simple, but good.

The main issue is that the price is not at all aligned with the standard of accommodation and services being offered. There is a clear lack of maintenance and attention to detail. Hospitality is practically nonexistent. There is no real welcome on arrival, no introduction to the property and no informations provided to guests.

As a short stop before or after a trek to Mount Rinjani, this accommodation may be suitable. However, after spending two nights here, the various issues became difficult to overlook. With better maintenance and management this could be a truly wonderful place.
