Beautiful setting
Hard mattress
I like the vintage stuff of the place very unique
I like the room
Absolutely jaw dropping location - a proper castle, truly amazing. Views and the dungeon bar fabulous
100 steps to the room. Some people would not be able to make it. Reception staff ignored me for a while. New barwoman was lovely. The room was shabby, the furniture all scuffed and scratched, the door lock difficult to master, the windows, stairwell windows all dirty.
lovely location and beautiful castle
Rooms were so hot and the hotel could not provide fans, no ice in the bars, run out of glasses, no parasols for the tables outside. Service was slow, No staff on reception at times.
Excellent location and experience.
Nothing
The grounds and building are very pretty.
but the hotel has more than doubled its prices for rooms suddenly for the entire rest of the year per night including cold autumn and winter months which is far too expensive to lure me and my partner for a return. Greedy new pricing for standard weeknights in the cold autumn has put off any return or friend recommendations I'm afraid
Breakfast good. Location was isolated to get to other
Choose of beer not throughout hotel as my favourite was not in main building
Grand location and setting
Dated feel
Dreadful stay. Spent a Sunday night here while traveling from Chester. Lovely building and grounds. Parking is a fair walk from the hotel. Bedroom was large and evidently located right above their party room. A DJ was blasting dance music all evening until after midnight, which felt like it was in our bath. When asking the desk about moving to a quiet room, the bitter woman said it was not possible and we could leave if we wanted to. Terrible customer service, and why even book that room knowing there's a party adjacent to it?? Worst castle hotel out of 13 we've stayed in.
Management only concerned with hosting parties, not hotel service.
Everything. Food. Staff. Room. Setting. Magical
Atmosphere, location, ambience.
Food was good.
Dinner options were limited, we managed to get a reservation in Brasserie, but had limited time at the table and had to eat early. Given the location we did not really have an option. The food was very good!!
Stunning location and great venue for events.
Plastic furniture in Bistro was awful. Furniture in room wasn’t the quality I’d expected in that venue
Beautiful location, the staff where lovely.
On our last night my partner and I enjoyed a lovely meal and then went into the wince cellar and enjoyed a few cocktails.
One of the people attending the bar was so lovely to us and was a pleasure to engage with. She wished my partner and I a happy pride month as we left and if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be writing this review. She is an asset to the team.
Wasn’t a great deal of room to explore the castle
Lovely and clean- room was fully refurbished
Paid for breakfast but a lot of things were chargeable extra f.eg. cappuccino - I don’t think a cappuccino is a luxury in a hotel like this? Also filter coffee was disgusting.
