Great location, very friendly and efficient staff, beautifully clean
Pros:

Brilliant location for a city break

Cons:

Trivial maybe, but the combination of ceiling/ambient lighting just did not work with the light switch combination, for example could not switch off the overhead light in the lounge part of the suite without also switching off the side light so you either had darkness or full light

A canny place to stay
Pros:

Location is excellent. Great views from the seventh floor. Comfortable bed so good sleep ensured. Plenty of room in the suite. Great choice on the breakfast menu. The bar is comfortable and offers a comprehensive drinks menu. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, especially on reception and a big nod to Tessie, your Belfast mammy, at breakfast.
The hotel meets the standards expected of the brand.

Cons:

The basin and stand in the Illustrious suite are too big for the space. The subsequent placement of the toilet is poorly thought out. If you were a large individual, you might not actually fit as it is cramped. It also looks weird. The lighting isn't the most functional. The spider-like bedside lights are on or off. When they are on, they are wondrously bright (think floodlight).I couldn't seem to dim them, which would have been helpful.
A boring choice of beers available in the bar. There's no need to have mainstream beer brands when you have the option to use the numerous local breweries.

It was 23 years since our last visit to Newcastle, when we also stayed at the Malmaison, and we had a brilliant time.
Pros:

It was clean, comfortable and the location is excellent. A lovely friendly welcome from Dave.

Cons:

My wife was surprised that there was no conditioner or body lotion but otherwise liked the toiletries.

Excellent location, friendly and welcoming staff, would highly recommend if you are wanting to stay centrally in Newcast
Pros:

Right on quayside, great view!
Easy and safe car parking over the road
Room design and decor very comfortable and modern
Complimentary bottle of water in fridge really welcome touch

Cons:

Breakfast was a bit pricey - even with an offer of £20 I thought that was a lot- would be good to have a continental only price
