Motel M69

This was, unfortunately, the worst accommodation experience I have ever had. Despite booking a family room approximately two and a half months in advance, my booking had apparently been forgotten. When my wife, child and I arrived, the keys were not in the key safe and we were left outside in the cold for around 10 minutes. Nobody responded to our knocking, and another guest who noticed our situation had to let us in so that we could stand by the reception as the weather wasn't good.

I called the number they had used to send me check in instructions earlier during the day and to my shock I was told that they had no record of my booking. This was despite having received a message from the property earlier that afternoon confirming my booking. They later admitted that they had forgotten about the booking and had mistakenly allowed another guest to occupy our room.

The guest was apparently already asleep and was asked to leave. The situation was extremely uncomfortable, particularly because of the swearing and inappropriate language used by one of the hosts towards him. What was even more concerning was that we were initially told to occupy the room immediately after the other guest left, without the room being cleaned or the bed linen changed. I blatantly refused, and only after the intervention of another host was the room cleaned. Even then, the whole situation left me uncomfortable about the cleanliness of the room. We eventually waited around 30–45 minutes before we could occupy our room something which added a further strain on us after a long drive.

The property itself was also different from what I expected. The name "M69 Motel" and the photographs gave me the impression of a conventional motel, but it is actually a residential house with rooms rented out to guests. The bathroom is shared and located in the passage, parking is limited and not guaranteed, and there was no microwave.

Only one seem chair. Not sure on table and chairs. Milk provided in a jam jar.
Location is in area which appears to be a run down council estate. Limited on street parking outside this semi detached house.

Most importantly one one bathroom and communal to be shared with other residents

Il y avait un chien du voisin direct qui nous a aboyé dessus à travers le grillage, ce qui ne nous a pas rassurées, ma chienne et moi, pour rentrer dans le jardin et la location.
Il y a eu du bruit jusqu'aux environs d'une heure du matin dans la maison et à l'extérieur donc il ne faut pas avoir un sommeil léger.
La salle de bain était partagée donc quand j'y suis allée, il y avait de l'eau par terre (sûrement quelqu'un qui a dû prendre sa douche avant). J'ai juste eu les pieds/chaussettes mouillés mais rien de grave.

The dog in the neighbouring garden is very reactive and barks at every slight noise or movement near the property.
We woke to find we had no power so could not have a shower before we left the property and could not get hold of anyone at the property to inform them

There was nothing that I didn’t like.

The location was quite out of the way

As you walk in you are welcomed by a dog who non stop barks. The room is small with a huge fitted wardrobe that really isn’t needed . A very unpleasant and over powering diffuser . Very disappointed that the bathroom is actually outside the room and is shared. The bathroom was left filthy as we entered it with faeces on the floor. The whole experience was disgusting .

Our stay had some positives, particularly that the beds were comfortable and we managed to get some rest once things eventually quietened down after 3am.

Unfortunately, there were several issues that affected our experience. There is only one bathroom for the whole property, which made the morning very difficult with everyone waiting to use it. We also had to ask for toilet rolls before bed, which should ideally have already been provided.

There was quite a lot of noise throughout the night, with people coming in and out of the property between around 11pm and 1am, followed by loud noise from the room upstairs until around 3am. In addition, our room had a noticeable smell of animals or pets, which wasn't very pleasant.

Overall, while the beds were comfortable, the lack of bathroom facilities, noise during the night, and condition of the room meant our stay wasn't as relaxing as we had hoped.

Another positive they do offer breakfast which is already in your room. However as it was not far from Fosse Park we had breakfast at Fosse Park.

A few suggestions for communication improvements:
1. Signage on the front of the house - when i arrived I didnt know along with other guests whether it was the correct site.
2. Although I was sent a text for the room number, on arrival I had no info on the code for the lock box, luckily Luke opened the door on time.
3. The key to my room did not have a number either (if my phone had died and I could not read my message then at least Luke would know which room I was allocated)

Room suggestions:
1. A stool at the table stand would be good for guests to work as standing up and having breakfast is uncomfortable
2. The bed is very very uncomfortable and overall I did not have quality sleep. Decent mattresses would be worth the investment and make the whole experience so much more relaxing
3. A bottle of water ( can even pay extra ) as filling up from the sink is not everyone's preference.

However overall, I would definitely book this place again.
