Cleanliness room very good bed very comfortable and the room location was very peaceful. Location was away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre but only 10mins walk away.
Stayed here whilst attending course at the QA Training center ...... DO NOT book if you would like any kind of sleep.....this has got to be one of the noisiest hotels i have ever slept in....screaming and shouting in the streets all night, felt like i may as well have slept on the street itself... at 3.40am i finally gave you trying to even get any sleep altogether which is just what i didnt need after a full days study the day before and a full days study and exam coming up on that day....The room was dirty, with some very questionable stains splashed across the headboard and the carpets were dirty and marked...Our breakfast was horrid with a burnt oil taste. The only highlight was our little giggle at the young man who we refered to as Basil from Faulty Towers as he was holding the fort on the reception, greeted us upon entry at dinner service, served us and ran into the Kitchen to help with the food.... poor man was multitasking to his best!!
The room was as expected, fairly basic, clean, a good size and reasonably priced. Zoya was friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. I was permitted to stay in the room an extra 20 minutes beyond checkout at no extra charge and this was very much appreciated and helpful in terms of meetings that day. Thanks for a great stay!
Good location, cheap rate. I've stayed many times but last night I was on the st James street side of the hotel. This is directly above Wetherspoons, unlucky. you can listen to bottle bins being emptied into a skip every hour until about 12am. Then you can listen to barrel deliveries from 5am.
Won't stay here again
I came back to stay here to meet up with a friend and to look at the Christmas markets. It is so easy to find and such a lovely welcome when you arrive. I was able to take my bags straight up to the room when I arrived and went round the market with my friend. The room was cold when I arrived, but when I was able to close the window, it took a while to warm up. The bed was really comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean. The restaurant was kept clean and tidy. I went to 2 breakfasts and I ate in the restaurant the 1st evening and the food was really lovely. I would recommend staying at The Premier Inn Portland Street.
Stayed here overnight, lovely comfy mattress people on front desk and the door were lovely as was the lobby and communal areas, but the paint in the bathroom was peeling almost all up the wall, dark heavy scuffs in the room and bathroom and the fan was dusty/mouldy my partner got really itchy can’t say for certain what it was but the picture shows how bad it looks.
Great location only couple miles from Salford and Manchester. Quiet and comfortable . Immaculately clean , good low level shower. Nothing to complain of. Staff very friendly and helpful , I feel they go above and beyond for guests. Nothing is too much trouble.
Clean and comfortable, with the facilities you'd expect from a budget chain. They promise a good nights sleep and things like a good mattress and adequate sound insulation are key to this.
Pleasing decor and I liked that the TV wasn't mounted flush on the dividing wall (it's got an extra insulating board behind it) so less of an issue with noise from other rooms.
Heating can be adjusted to suit though the thermostat reset overnight so I found it too warm when i woke up.
Free WiFi is a nice perk.
Convenient location and easy to find if you don't mind the inevitable traffic jams on Mottram Moor or the roundabout at the end of the M67. Its underneath one of the flight paths into Manchester airport but noise from planes, and the traffic, not a problem unless you have the window open. (For me, the ability to open the window is a definite plus point.)
Couldn't use the restaurant as it was closed. I understand this was temporary, but it would have been nice to be told before booking. (I know they are different companies but its the same group). The only other option within walking distance was a Macdonalds! If you know the area there are several other options within a few miles. However I would have preferred not to have to drive for a meal.
Excellent stay, hotel is close to the station, theatre, shops and restaurants. Ollie on reception was so helpful and really polite. Paulo and Philip were great at breakfast, very friendly and made us laugh. Would recommend and stay again.
Holly on reception and Paulo and Phillip on breakfast we’re emore than helpful and very friendly, very pleasant to talk to and answered any questions I had!
Unfortunately even for premier inn this wasn't great, the positives being the bed is still as comfy as always and the bathroom was good for us. However we were situated on the first floor, above the bins and delivery entrance. This meant both nights from as early as 4am and till 7am I was awoken by lorries either collecting rubbish and recycling or making deliveries or collecting the laundry. To top it off our window wouldn't even close or lock! So anyone could get on the perfectly situated bin and climb in if they wanted to. Plus it meant there was a horrible draft the whole time. I had initially paid for a triple room but premier inn had decided to only give me a double meaning me and my friend now had to share a bed as they had given the room away. (I arrived at 9pm after a very long journey) the room was more bare than usual completely missing the chair or sofa bed that usually accompanies the other half of the room. Usually premier inns do the job...this one didn't.
Very happy with our stay. We visited Manchester to exhibit at the Manchester Conference Centre and for our needs this was a perfect stay. Staff were friendly, room was spacious, bed very comfortable and I always love their breakfast.
10 out of 10!
Very rude receptionist on Saturday afternoon. The place was busy and no one’s rooms were ready which must be tough if you’re on reception but if you’re going to work in that role it makes such a difference if you are polite to the guests not stroppy with an attitude. Really ruined our start to our holiday and other people were upset too. The manager seemed to be running round trying to help everyone. Hotel is noisy too but it is city centre so that is to be expected. Not the nicest place to stay but the room itself was normal fine premier inn standard. Wouldn’t stay again mainly due to the receptionist.
Met up with a few friends to visit the Manchester Christmas markets. Hotel is a great location is arriving by car, free parking and very accessible bus routes for city centre. Staff friendly and had lots of information
Mattress uncomfortable as we could feel springs at edges.Bar small and no atmosphere. Location of hotel very good.
Restricted menu with ever increasing prices unless on meal deal but menus seem to be getting smaller.Chips with everything and no option for mash.
The price was very nice - which is why for us, we weren't necessarily expecting such a warm welcome and hospitality. The members of the staff were extremely helpful, super nice and always there when needed. As for the bedrooms, they're not necessarily luxurious or out of the extraordinary, but for the price you pay, it's certainly very satisfying. Much better than other hotels we've been, within the same range of price. Also, the location is quite nice - very close to the train station, which is handy to go to the airport especially. And there are many stores nearby, as well as restaurants.
Definitely recommend, don't be hesitant to book your trip, it will go well.
A long weekend visiting rellies in Manchester. A decent breakfast and comfy bed made our stay very pleasant. The Premier Inn itself looks a bit tired now. However, the reception staff were prompt, friendly and welcoming
Great Hotel. Nice staff. Rooms clean and beds extermly comfortable.
Opted for the 'meal deal' which included cooked breakfast and two course evening meal.
Great value and food was hot and service was excellent.
Reception staff nice & friendly.
The Self Check in for this hotel was so easy to use and saved us a long queue. The room was clean & fresh and the shower was exceptional. Also would like to thank Steven who served us in the bar as he provided a world class customer service every time we went into the bar area. Thank you!!
This is the only hotel in the UK that I have ever stayed in where they inform you that they do not supply heating in the rooms.
