Good hotel. Personally I think this hotel is ideally located to get the best value to location deal. I say this because, there is a 25 min (easy flat) walk to Portobello beach, which is beautiful. There are also buses. But the walk is nice because you pass a little town center on the way! Then there are around 5 buses that come regularly and run late to take you into the city. Bus is £2.20 so cheap as chips. I'll most likely stay here again to get the best of both worlds. The staff seem wonderful and the hotel is quiet.
Kay was great but breakfast on our first morning wasnt good. The cook burnt the full english and my poached eggs were hard. Dreading breakfast the following day it was completly different not burnt at all. Possibly down to a different cook. Only had 1 bath towel but reception rectified this.
The room and public areas were clean and well cared for. The staff I encountered were cheerful, helpful and efficient. The room had a bath - what bliss arriving late evening, oodles of hot water and a warm room. The hotel is the best value by far of those Edinburgh airport hotels I have stayed in. The downside was finding how to get there, but I found Edinburgh Black Cabs to be an excellent & efficient service
Sadly probably the most disappointing Premier Inn stay ever. We recognised that being so close to the flight path might prove difficult and it was. But the last departure was around 11pm. Unfortunately we then had to listen to banging and crashing from the room above us. There is virtually no sound proofing so rather than arriving for our morning flight refreshed, we were both shattered.
The hotel itself really is very tired and ready to be upgraded
We visited on Tue, Wed checkout Thursday. We received a nice warm welcome and got to our very warm and convenient room. This is Edinburgh on a wet freezing cold day so we were ready to kick off our shoes and dry off before heading downstairs for dinner. Bear in mind Scotland were playing Denmark for a place in the World Cup 2026. We enjoyed our starters but then heard a huge roar from the kitchens! Scotland had just scored minutes into kick-off and I couldn't help feeling that the tv took priority over our mains. Our fillet steaks (medium) arrived pink in the middle but cool and dry. The flat mushroom wasn't a flat mushroom. It was a general kind about an inch and a half diameter and the grilled tomato was half of a salad tomato. Peas were dry. We really couldn't be bothered making a fuss. We were so tired, I could have fallen asleep at the table. I wouldn't have done as there was too much cheering from the kitchen. I'm all for celebrating a momentous occasion but in this instance, quality suffered. There was a fire alarm next morning which was handled efficiently.
I have stayed in the hotel on numerous occasions whilst I have had building works done.
The hotel is always clean and the rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant serves an evening meal and all you can eat breakfast.
The biggest thanks need to go to Dawn, Georgina and Josh. They always make me feel welcome, especially when I’m sat on my own in the restaurant. Thank you guys.
Lovely hotel and staff. Nice room, cosy beds. Situated about a 15-20minute bus journey away from Edinburgh city centre, with the bus stop about a 3 minute walk away from the hotel and buses very frequent day and night. We paid £2.20 each for a single adult ticket. I believe day passes were £5.50. On our last day we went to Portobello beach, which was an 8 minute drive and was absolutely lovely. Would recommend this hotel!
Very underwhelming, rooms weren't ready, heating doesn't work well or easily, lift was broken on arrival, repaired later on that day. No complimentary offered for my room not being ready and having to downgrade.
This is an airport hotel with its own restaurant, so by default it should be suitable for business travellers. However, be warned; The restaurant requires pre-booking and operates a ridiculous system allowing only 3 slots every 15 min. Apparently due to only one single cook in the kitchen. Result: Arriving by air in the evening and looking for something to eat, but unfortunately the next available slot in the restaurant was 2 hours later, even though very few tables were in use! Not the kind of service you expect as a business traveller, or as any other kind of traveller for that matter.
How was the quality of the food you may ask? There’s room for improvement.
The hotel appeared understaffed, however, the available staff were friendly.
The restaurant and the room were quite cold, and the heating system in the room appeared not to have any effect other than making noise. The inventory in the room appeared tired and with a wobbly table.
There’s no shuttle bus from/to the airport, so you have to take a taxi. I waited 20 min. at the hotel for a taxi to the airport at 4:30 in the morning.
Previous to staying here, I had thought of Premier Inns as giving a basic level of comfort and cleanliness, but this one was a disappointment. On the plus side: the bed was comfortable and clean, and there was hot water for the shower. Parking was fairly cheap (especially for Edinburgh) and the location felt safe.
On the down side: room was damp with mouldy patches on wall and around the window. Battered furniture. Walls very thin and noise from neighbours heard throughout the night and morning. Carpet felt unclean and grubby. Public areas of the building were shabby and unwelcoming.
We didn't try the breakfast - sounds like a good choice from reading other reviews.
Honestly the worst experience I’ve had at a premier inn. You don’t expect glitz and glamour staying at a premier inn, but you do expect at least some standard of hospitality and cleanliness. All staff we had any interaction with (bar one lovely lady on reception the night of Halloween) were incredibly rude, disinterested and unwelcoming. Our bedroom was evidently not properly cleaned before our stay with shards of glass being left on the floor (not made by us), the bathroom was filthy, no toilet paper, ceiling and shower cubicle absolutely caked in mould with the ceiling falling into despair. I’m not usually one to complain, but for the price of this premier inn, I really didn’t expect to feel dirtier after taking my shower than before I entered. The corridors also had a very weird, very gone-off-food smell to them, really unsettling. Most inviting, disappointing stay I’ve had.
Great place to stay away from the city centre.Food is too dear and portions are quite small .
There is a car parking fee in case you decide to stay here.
Very good experience central in town very good atmosphere and friendly staff food good will use again very clean hotel good value.
We arrived after a really bad time returning from holiday. We were tired, misserable and just had enough. We were checked in almost midnight by a gentleman that was so friendly and helpful.. he kept the bar open so we could unwind and his collegue then followed suit and couldn't be nicer and more helpful. They were great with the kids, gave them treats, entertainment and even made them hot chocolate at half 1 in the morning! Such a nice change from the rubbish few days we'd had..
This hotel is ideal for buses in to the city centre that are on a regular basis, the bus information is located at reception. For the airport you need a taxi or walk 10-15 min to a different bus stop to the airport. The staff are friendly and clean rooms.
Hotel is pretty tired and dated, and could do with some care and attention, and tidiness/cleanliness could do with improving. For a budget/cheap option, does what it needs to for a place to rest your head. Bed was comfy, but some bedding was stained/not clean. Would consider other options next time. The Premier Inn staff seemed friendly and attentive (despite clear lack of communication between themselves and the Beefeater attached).
The Beefeater is another story. Despite having booked a breakfast sitting the night before, and not paid in advance (as we were told to do the previous evening), turned up in the morning to find no booking, to be told that we couldn't book breakfast so late, and we couldn't pay in the morning. It transpires you can book and pay in the morning (at least when they dont communicate the booking), its just that they'd rather not have the hassle... Once we got over that hurdle, the experience continued...
I will offer the two staff some leeway in that they seemed to be manning the breakfast service themselves, but the customer service was largely non-existent. Staff were generally abrupt, dismissive and rude, like we were forcing them to offer a breakfast service. A number of (already limited) breakfast items were not available, and my own order was wrong. Food was poorly cooked and pretty cold. The actual 'restaurant' is absolutely grotty, with broken booths, grimey carpets, and didnt look like it'd been given any love for a number of years. This restaurant is definitely a stain on the usually-reliable (albeit no frills) offering from a Premier Inn collaboration, which has dragged the hotel review down.
Comfortable room, good location, good breakfast, the shower over the bath was difficult to use so my wife had a bath, very deep bath causing a problem for my wife when getting out, needs hand rail fitting on wall.
We were already familiar with the location, so no issues there. However, this stay has unfortunately made me reconsider using Premier Inn for future bookings. My experience was far below the standard I've come to expect.
The staff, particularly in the restaurant, were unfriendly and, at times, rude. Our room was also not up to standard. We found spider webs near the window under the curtain, and the carpet was visibly dirty. The bathroom bin had no liner. Additionally, the toilet tissue was only about 20% full when we arrived, which is just not acceptable. To add to the discomfort, the bin collection happened around 7 AM, with the bins placed directly behind our room. This made for a very noisy early morning.
The breakfast experience was the worst part of our stay. We had booked for two nights, and our package included an 'unlimited cooked breakfast,' which was supposed to be a buffet-style service from 7 to 11 AM. However, there was no buffet in sight. Instead, we were forced to choose a time to have breakfast, which was incredibly inconvenient. On the first day, we had to order our food and wait a long time for it to be served. Some items weren’t available, and the food we did receive was cold. When we ordered a second portion, the staff's attitude was unprofessional, with rude and dismissive behavior.
To make matters worse, on the second day, we were informed our entrance to the restaurant that there was no cooked breakfast available at all. This was particularly frustrating as we were traveling with four children, and finding an alternative was a huge inconvenience. The hotel did offer a full refund for the breakfast, but despite this promise, after 2 days, we have yet to receive any communication or refund confirmation.
Overall, I highly recommend avoiding this location, especially if you are traveling with family. It was a disappointing experience that has made me rethink my choice of hotel chains.
Unfortunately this is a review I never thought I would see myself writing for a stay at a Premier Inn. Edinburgh Airport Premier Inn is a good hotel, very conveniently located for us and is very clean, but this time I was not impressed with the location of our bedroom one bit. We had been travelling all day and only had a few hours to sleep before we had to be on our way again to travel back to Inner Hebridean island we live on. I was given a twin room (room 145, 15th October for 1 night) which was situated directly above the ventilation system for the hotel and all night, all I could hear was the constant drone of the ventilation system. Even my daughter (who could sleep through anything) commented on it. The ventilation shaft looked like it literally came straight out of the building directly under the bedroom. So much for the sleep promise...we never got a wink of sleep. Premier Inn's are my 'go-to' hotel each and every time I leave the island, but this was the worst night I have ever had in a Premier Inn. I wouldn't be surprised if more guests had complained about that room.
Fantastic stay late night check in made easier due to the fantastic customer service from the 2 night team members! Both went over and above.
