1
Mixed reports: several guests praised immaculately clean rooms, but multiple reviews reported dirty bathrooms, unemptied bins and guests cleaning toilets themselves, indicating inconsistent housekeeping.
Service
1
Generally positive: numerous mentions of very friendly, helpful staff, early check-in accommodated and polite service in restaurant; a few language-barrier incidents noted but overall service sentiment is positive.
Location
1
Strongly positive: repeatedly praised river views, quiet riverside setting, easy to find with free parking and good access to Newcastle; some comments about being a walk from centre through an industrial area but location/view remains a highlight.
Room Quality
1
Notable negatives: reports of squeaky floors, noisy chairs, thin soundproofing (can hear neighbours), very small/uncomfortable double bed for some guests; mixed otherwise with some rooms described as clean and comfortable.
Amenities
1
Several amenity complaints: missing conditioner, no air conditioning, no mini-fridge in rooms, some facilities described as old and in need of update (toilet temperature control issues).
Value for Money
1
Positive: multiple guests noted good price and excellent value for money, with several recommending the hotel and stating they would return.
Food and Beverage
1
Mostly positive: restaurant receives high praise in several reviews (described as superb / Michelin-star quality by some), though a few found food merely OK.
Overall Experience
1
Mixed-to-negative overall: many guests enjoyed the location, staff and restaurant, but persistent issues (room noise/quality, occasional cleanliness and amenity failures, smoking smells) produced a net mixed experience.

A comfortable stay made special by the fantastic staff.
Pros:

Had a great stay at the Rivers Hotel. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, and really made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their kindness, helpfulness and banter made our trip even more enjoyable. Would definitely stay again! 😊

Cons:

Honestly, the only complaint I can think of is that the river smelled a bit like eggs one morning… but I don’t think the hotel can be blamed for that! 😄

Pros:

Location on the river and short taxi ride into town.

Cons:

Heating not working asked for it to be looked at and told it had been but cold all night plus toilet cistern running all night, we were told breakfast was at 8:00, we went down only to be told it was 8:30 so went down again and it was still closed, gave up and checked out to find breakfast elsewhere.
