A Fawlty Towers Experience
Pros:

Convenient for catching ferry to Barra& offered dinner, bed & breakfast

Cons:

A little Fawlty Towers in its character, staff seemed very inexperienced, rather slow service, poor quality food

Fine for a short stay
Pros:

Nicely decorated inside.
Room was small but adequate and spotless.

Cons:

Lift out of action which we were not told about before starting up 3 flights of stair with our cases. We are both in our 70s
Loud noise coming from the wash basin tap which we had to report.
Staff a bit slow to refill serving dishes at breakfast

Rubbish software. Rude not to edit a date.
Pros:

I booked but the booking. Com software changed the dates. I asked politely to change the dates to the ones I needed. That was refused. That's why I'm giving it a crap review.
Will not book with this again.

Pros:

The veiw from the back windows, outside could be tidier.

Cons:

Lift wasn't working and customers should have been informed prior to arriving. This did not affect myself or partner but I did notice the struggles some of the elderly or infirm customers had.

Nice stay spoilt by rubbish WiFi

WiFi is a joke - you have to provide all your details to get a free 30mins then verify your email address for another free 30mins - couldn’t find a buy option either. But this isn’t the 90’s !!!!!!!! Free WiFi 24/7 is standard in every other hotel I’ve stayed in for the last two decades!!

Stopping over for an early start? This hotel is fine. If you're using it as a base for Oban...!
Pros:

Comfortable budget hotel, nothing more. The location is ok for Oban (I was only stopping overnight for a ferry early in the morning.). I didn't have breakfast because I was away too early.

Cons:

I had a beer with my dinner - the draught functionality was terrible - beer didn't taste great, as little gas within.

This hotel is very badly maintained, some of the most basic expectations are not met, like curtains which close, toilets

The staff were all very nice and kept saying how sorry they were about our disgraceful experience….It is in a good location

This hotel is a total disgrace…how the tourist board can possibly give it a 4 star rating is beyond me.
We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights…
The window in my fathers room No.10 wouldn’t close, he helpful receptionist came a showed how you have to push a button in the hinge mechanism and try not to trap your fingers to close it…not good
Our room No.16 the curtains wouldn’t close at all my husband had to move the sliders along one at a time but then they wouldn’t open, and the TV didn’t work and the shower glass didn’t fit onto the bath edge so when you showered it flooded the floor.
We complained and they looked, sent someone to fix it but they couldn’t so they changed our room to room No.14……great everything seemed to work until my husband went to use the toilet water from the base of the cistern was blasting out in all directions…they came, looked, tried to fix it, failed, called a plumber …there was over 2 inches of water flooding the bathroom and spilling over onto the carpet.
The manager said they would make amends when we checked out the next day…. We were relocated to room47 on the 4th floor where everything worked accept the lift to get you 5here which was out of order.
Does anything in this poorly maintained hotel actually work???
We were not happy the next day and asked them to escalate our comp,ain’t to head office because they said they didn’t have the permissions to compensate us for ruining our two nights….3 room changes in two nights is not acceptable…. This hotel is NOT a four star hotel it’s not even one star…the basics are missing and it advertised TV etc so one expects them to work….the staffs excuses were not acceptable…when we checked out we insisted on seeing 5he manager …after all she had said they would make amends the night before….this different manager kept saying it wasn’t their fault….wow …so is it the customers fault that nothing works…..Don’t stay here it’s terrible….
