Categories

Cleanliness
1
Mixed feedback: many guests described the property as extremely clean and comfortable, but several noted lack of room cleaning on multi-night stays (resulting in odors), poor bathroom drainage, and very poor public toilets reported by one guest.
Service
1
Generally helpful and polite staff; multiple guests praised assistance (including help with laundry and multilingual desk staff). Isolated reports of an unfriendly front-desk employee and limited English from some reception staff.
Location
1
Consistently praised: central, ideal Gion location — very close to attractions, yet the hotel itself is quiet and convenient for taxis and sightseeing.
Room Quality
1
Rooms are generally small and compact (typical for the area), sometimes a bit outdated; bathrooms are very small and there are tight spots due to the historic layout.
Amenities
1
Some nice touches (small private garden, free extras in the lobby) and basic conveniences; overall limited beyond essentials and no regular housekeeping unless long stays.
Value for Money
1
Mixed perceptions: good value for central, quiet location for many guests, but some felt the small room size and lack of cleaning reduced perceived value.
Food and Beverage
1
Frequently criticized: breakfast often described as very limited (mainly bread/pastries and beverages), lacking protein options; a few guests found the selection acceptable but most wanted more variety.
Overall Experience
1
Neutral overall: many guests enjoyed a pleasant, quiet stay in a beautiful historic building with friendly staff and prime location, balanced by complaints about small rooms, limited breakfast, and inconsistent cleaning/service experiences.

Gorąco polecam ten hotel
Pros:

Świetna lokalizacja, w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie najważniejszych zabytków jak i świetnych restauracji, w których serwują naprawde świetne dania.

Cons:

Jakbym musiał się do czegoś przyczepić to Śniadania bez szału.

Comfortable, friendly, charming
Pros:

Warm and comforting experience with lovely staff. Very comfortable beds - a treat after rock-hard beds in other hotels on this trip. Plenty of free self-serve amenities, including free water. Good location for exploring Gion.

Cons:

For exploring the rest of the city, it was a little out of the way - 20min up to Higashiyama train station for most of the farther trips.

A convenient well located hotel with no charm. Overpriced .
Pros:

Great location in the Gion area, however it should be noted that this area is much more lively by day. At night a lot goes on behind closed doors. We liked the fact you could open the windows as rooms are small.

Cons:

Rooms are small. Bathroom is tiny. You have pay extra if you want your room cleaned. Breakfast was pretty bad. A selection of pre-packaged sweet breads and a coffee machine. No cosy entrance or common area. This was the poorest place we stayed in our three weeks in Japan and we vastly overpaid at Yen40,000 a night. But we noted accommodation is expensive in Kyoto as there is so much demand. Hotel was apparently recently renovated. It’s a shame they didn’t spend more on making it attractive.

Disappointed
Pros:

This property is NOT four star (which is the current advertised rating). The aesthetics and furnishings are at a three star level at absolute most. If I had wanted a three star experience or less I would have been happy as the rooms are large and the location is good. However, when on a week holiday, I like to stay somewhere that is more than very basic (if travelling for a while, basic is fine and I choose accordingly). The windows are heavily wire frosted so you can’t see out, there is no bedside tables, there is no cleaning (fresh towels are provided) and the included breakfast is white sweet buns in plastic with instant coffee sachets and a juice box (fine at a hostel but not a four star breakfast expectation).

Cons:

As above. Apart from the location and large room (which were both good), this hotel was well below four star expectations (compared to every other four star hotel we have stayed in Japan). It is three star at absolute most (I feel 2 star apart from the room size). We were disappointed as we felt it was false advertising and would not have chosen to stay here.

We betaalden €190/nacht. Hotel met weinig faciliteiten, kamer schoon laten maken kost ook nog eens ¥2000 per keer. Kleine badkamer ten opzichte van de kamer. Eerder een 2- of 3 sterren hotel dan een 4 sterren hotel.
