At the time of booking, we requested a baby crib and the hotel confirmed that one would be provided.
We arrived at the hotel late at night with our baby asleep, and when we entered the room there was no crib installed. Instead, they showed us a baby walker toy and told us that was the crib. They also told us that Housekeeping had supposedly taken care of setting it up.
That same night, they assured us the issue would be resolved, but not only did they fail to do so, when we later spoke with the assistant manager she claimed that I had sent the request through Booking.com and that they do not see those messages. As a result, I had to sleep on the floor so that my baby could sleep safely in the bed.
The following day, the hotel manager called us to admit that they had in fact received our message, but that they had run out of cribs. They went out to buy one that same day and left it in our room still inside the box, expecting us to assemble it ourselves.
Our compensation for the inconvenience: a $40 breakfast credit.
Room rate: US$1,200 per night.
This was the worst hotel experience of my life — and I have been traveling for 40 years and work in the hotel industry myself.
Beautiful room in classic older building. Great café and bar nearby.
people, ambiance, location
I wanted a little more light at night- another lamp. Not a big deal
Pool area and bar. Those were really cool. My bathroom was amazing.
Room was cramped and didn't have a closet. Also, the check in area seemed really odd - like it was just thrown together. Needs to be more finished.
The rounding it’s beautiful for a tree
Parking at the back of Holiday, but they do have ballet parking
Staff was awesome !!
The location was very nice. The check in process and the valet were great and efficient. The bartender was very nice and made very good drinks. The room had enough room for two. The the bathroom and the shower was spacious.
The bed wasn't all that comfortable. It was a matress on slats without a box spring. The floor to the room creaked which was expected in an old building. People in the other rooms could be heard and people walking up and down the halls could be heard easily.
We absolutely loved our stay at Oakhurst. The property is beautiful, quiet without feeling sleepy, and incredibly well maintained. The café is outstanding, and the rooms are comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and well appointed. The location is perfect, an easy walk to UVA grounds. Valet parking was seamless and convenient. The décor strikes a perfect balance of stylish and inviting, and the staff was genuinely warm and welcoming. The pool and sauna were fantastic touches. Overall, it delivers an elevated, boutique feel at a great value and feels effortlessly refined without being over the top.
Honestly, very little. If anything, just wish we had more time to enjoy everything the property offers.
Access 2 rooms to relax.
That I couldn’t park my own car and had to pay for it
Extremely charming but a little dated. The staff was exceptionally warm and welcoming. Outstanding location (adjacent to UVA campus).
Older buildings so we could hear everything going on upstairs/next door.
The atmosphere was charming, warm and comfortable. The staff was pleasant, helpful and courteous.
Loved the staff, the aesthetic and the valet parking.
