Categories

Cleanliness
1
Multiple reviews explicitly note rooms as 'lovely clean and new', 'modern, spotless', 'nice and clean' and 'freshly decorated' — overall strong positive on cleanliness.
Service
1
Staff repeatedly described as friendly, welcoming, accommodating and helpful; guests mention being treated like family and staff going out of their way.
Location
1
Consistently praised: beautiful riverside/mountain setting, very close to train station and town, easy parking and pleasant surroundings.
Room Quality
1
Rooms described as newly renovated, comfortable beds, excellent showers and good in-room equipment (TV, coffee maker); one guest noted windows didn’t fully block outside sound.
Amenities
1
Good on-site amenities mentioned (breakfast, bar, parking), but the property is explicitly not dog-friendly — several guests flagged this limitation which reduces perceived amenities for pet owners.
Value for Money
1
Some guests praised value, but a small set of practical limitations (pet policy, occasional noise) were raised and may reduce perceived value for affected guests.
Food and Beverage
1
Breakfast and meals earn praise in several reviews ('very good', 'excellent', 'delicious'), but the mixed nature of comments (pub-style portions, variable expectations) and isolated issues noted lead to a cautiously negative aggregate here.
Overall Experience
1
Many guests describe an excellent, welcoming stay and plan to return, but recurring negatives (not dog-friendly policy and occasional noise) meaningfully affect overall experience for some visitors — yielding a mixed overall score.

Pros:

It was a good hotel, but it was listed on Booking with parking spaces, but they don't have enough parking spaces and you have to go to parking lots in the city to find a parking space, and that's not easy.

I can't recommend it enough. It was a very pleasant stay.
Pros:

The welcome I received upon arrival, was great. The room was very clean and comfortable. I really enjoyed the food and the beer was a very reasonable price. Parking is free and easy to find. The best part is I turned up on a Wednesday which happened to be quiz night and I met lots of lovely locals.

Cons:

I liked it all.

A brilliant and friendly place to stay when exploring the area. Totally recommended
Pros:

The Cresselley Inn is a combination of a pub, a hotel and a focal point for the community. The first thing to say is that everyone is friendly and helpful
My room was fine, double room with en-suite shower. Everything feels very new, I understand it was all updated in 2025
The bar is friendly and very popular with locals, especially in summer weather as the terrace is a sun trap.
Food in the bar or the adjoining restaurant is very good quality and service excellent
Very very good breakfast, good packed lunch available too
Very handy parking in a public car park just opposite the hotel.

Cons:

Maybe start serving breakfast a little earlier? Its 8 o clock weekdays and 9 at weekends
Otherwise nothing at all

Thoroughly enjoyable, it would have been perfect if we could have had breakfast earlier!
Pros:

Its history, location and social atmosphere

Cons:

No problem with the property itself, however I would have liked breakfast to be available earlier than the 09.00 start. By the time breakfast was ordered and eaten, it was almost mid morning. An 08.00 start ought to be offered.

Everything exceeded our expectations
Pros:

Just home from an overnight stop to celebrate my son’s wedding
What a lovely place
The rooms are modern and well equipped.
The beds are super comfortable and the shower was excellent
Above all though, the staff and local people are so friendly and welcoming
I have to particularly thank Richard who kindly took us to the local golf club where the evening reception was due to lack of taxis and also a thank you to Hannah for being so friendly

Cons:

There was nothing to dislike, everything was 100% spot on and could not be faulted
