Not a huge amount of space for our family in the room we stayed but it was fine.

Maintenance. High price but less value.

The welcome at check-in was unfriendly. The person assisting us seemed unhappy to be there, which made for an uncomfortable first impression.

Our biggest issue was luggage forwarding. Traveling as a family, we had planned to send our suitcases to the airport so we wouldn’t have to carry them along with everything else. We specifically asked whether we needed to bring our bags down a couple of days in advance. The check-in staff member assured us that bringing them down by 11 p.m. the night before checkout would be fine.

When we brought our bags down around 4 p.m. the day before checkout, we were told that information was wrong: the bags needed to have been submitted two days beforehand. Staff acknowledged their colleague’s mistake but suggested taking a taxi at our own expense. They eventually found an alternative luggage service, but it was not one the hotel normally worked with, cost roughly two and a half times as much, and required us to accept terms stating that on-time delivery was not guaranteed. We weren’t comfortable taking that risk before a flight. The hotel also declined to cover the price difference. Mistakes happen, but we expected more responsibility and practical support when we had explicitly checked the deadline and followed their instructions.

Breakfast was mediocre and offered limited options. The only coffee available was a pot of brewed coffee with cow’s milk, with no alternative milk options. We found a much better breakfast at another hotel down the street for the same price. I would recommend leaving breakfast out of your booking and paying on the day if you decide you want it. It might be fine for a day or two, but we wouldn’t choose it for an entire stay.

The room looked exactly as pictured, but the bed was extremely hard and left us with backaches. Sound insulation was also poor—we could hear loud neighboring guests on several nights. There was very little storage for unpacking, with just a few hangers and no substantial closet space.

The room was very poorly cleaned, there was dust in the door, light switch, dirty table with beverage stains and so on. However the worst was by far the air conditioner filters and ventilation system, that had mould stains and were filthy. I can’t tell the last time it was cleaned, being a health hazard to the guest with the poor air quality and allergens present.
We complained about it as soon as we checked in, having being told that it was going to be cleaned immediately. We arrived around 22:00 to find a note from reception with an apology, saying that the air conditioning could only be cleaned the next day and thanking us for our understanding. We complained about it with the night reception staff, that tried to move us to another room… however only to find that the conditions were the same.
Of course we didn’t have time to find another hotel that night and as we were leaving Japan the next day, also couldn’t find another suitable option close to where we were.
Out of the 6 hotels we stayed in Japan, including Tokyo, this was the only one with the this type of issue. A pity that brought distress to the last days of our honeymoon trip.

Breakfast spread was limited. Also surprised to hear that the the hotel staff did not make up the bed for my 11 year old even though we had booked the room for 3 occupants.
