Breakfast was Ok, the chilaquiles were good one day but the huevos a la mexicana the next day were dry and tasteless. Best thing was the fresh squeezed orange juice. The coffee was very hot and served in a non-heat proof tin cup, which burned my hands and lips.
Service was excellent though, and the guys on staff were attentive and helpful. My brother and I were the only guests in the hotel . The hotel is Lovely and the rooms have interesting art and decor, and there are nice outdoor terraces, colonial style architecture. We each had a premier junior suite ...my brother's room had an amazing painted faux-sky-cuppola and small outdoor patio with a jacuzzi (which he didn't use) and my room had a cute indoor seating area and a spiral staircase leading to a small private outdoor patio on the roof, with an outdoor shower even! The rooms all appear to be unique and have interesting pieces of art which I loved. ....
There was no Spa to speak of, at least not that I was aware of. No pool, no sauna, no spa treatments, no massage services. Not that any of those services were a priority for me , but since the name of the hotel is Casona la Republica boutique hotel and spa, I thought I would mention that there is no real "spa" here.
NOISE: There is a church next door and other churches around the corner, so the church bells ring LOUDLY and OFTEN and start EARLY, so the sound could be annoying to some. Especially if there are holidays going on or local festivities or ceremonies. It didn't really bother me (I like the sound of church bells !) but my brother couldn't get a good nights sleep during his stay, even when wearing earplugs. And the nightclubs across the street are open late and there is loud singing and music until 1-2 am, pretty much every night . You can't avoid it..
It’s a beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, every staff member has been from very good to excellent.
The location is superb, close to many walkable areas with charming Colonial architecture.
The only downside with this particular property Casona de la Republica was that the loud church bells next door were ringing every morning, often starting at 7am ringing several times, then again at 8 am ringing several times, then again at 10am, etc. which unfortunately woke me up every time as I am a light sleeper - and this is wearing 70db earplugs plus sleeping with a large pillow over my ear. This single factor ruined my sleep and for 5 nights I never got a good nights sleep, which affected my stay which was for an important family Baptism. Many family social events with celebrations and music in Mexico go on late into the nights, so going to bed at 2-3am is quite common.
If I were able to I would immediately install sound-proof windows on every charming room. This might not reduce all the morning church bells ringing but it could significantly improve the guest experience, since we all need to sleep well.
It is no fault of the hotel - Queretaro has so many churches within a densely populated neighborhood (each Catholic denomination needed its own church, but unless the hotel rooms have sound-proof windows installed alas I cannot risk losing sleep every day.
Excellent staff, service, and location.
beautiful. quiet. central location. helpful staff. responsive staff.
nothing. perhaps more breakfast choices and stronger coffee! get the hot tub working!
Location, people and the history.
We were pleased with everything
Everything was nice
el edificio es precioso y los cuartos también, además de una gran ubicacion
me dieron una habitacion con jacuzzi pero el jacuzzi estaba en el techo al aire libre en un dia super frio y yo queria una con tina interna
Great location for exploring the old town. Beautiful old home with arcaded courtyard and fountain.
Not many guests during our stay. Not much of a restaurant. So felt a little cold. Maybe it's better in a busier time.
The property was beautifully and artistically renovated. I guess we were there off season, restaurant, bar and spa were closed. It’s also near a loud bar which is unfortunate. Still, it’s a beautiful and historic hotel.
There was no restaurant nor bar open. Was not told until check in that they were under construction. Would have changed our plans as my husband had to leave early for meetings and couldn’t get a cup of coffee or breakfast. The location is nice and close to the city center. And there are lots of places to get food., Just very inconvenient and not communicated.
No restaurant nor bar on site.
