Room was a bit tired

Unfortunately, the bathroom in one of our rooms was extremely disappointing, particularly considering we paid £740 for two rooms over two nights.

The showerhead was covered in thick, raised, black deposits that appeared to be mould or bacterial biofilm. The extent of the build-up was concerning and suggested that the showerhead had not been adequately cleaned or maintained for some time.

There was also extensive black staining around the shower walls, shower curtain, drainage area and fittings, alongside deteriorating woodwork with peeling paint and further black staining.

The bathroom was a wet room, but the floor appeared to slope in the wrong direction. Rather than water draining away, it ran towards the bathroom door and remained on the floor for at least 12 hours after 1 person showering.

This made the bathroom impractical to use for getting ready, which was particularly inconvenient when attending a wedding.

I only noticed the extent of the cleanliness issues later on our first evening and didn't raise them during our stay because of the wedding preparations the following day.

However, these appeared to be established cleanliness and maintenance problems rather than minor issues between staying guests.

At an average cost of £185 per room per night, I expected a much higher standard.

It's disappointing because the bedrooms were spacious and the wedding experience was fantastic, but the bathroom significantly affected our experience of the accommodation.

There was a strange noise on and off during the night

Lock on room 6 did not work properly. We had to put a chair behind the door for security. There was a party (or night club?) in an upstairs room which was so noisy making it difficult to sleep. Added to that was the flat as a pancake pillows and the constant background hum (perhaps from the heating system). The view from the room was of disused and discarded items and the "beer garden". There were no blinds or voiles on the window so the curtains had to be closed to afford any privacy. The bathroom although well appointed smelled of damp, the grout in the shower needed cleaning and there was black mould in the sealant.
Breakfast was chosen from a sheet you were given on check-in. There was a comprehensive list but I chose only poached eggs and brown toast. The toast was just warmed bread, not toasted in the least. I asked for it to be replaced which was done but the poached eggs were solidified by then. The coffee was lukewarm at best.

Everything was to our expectations enjoyable
