I recently stayed at Ananea and had a wonderful experience. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout my stay. The boutique hotel itself met expectations—clean, modern, and comfortable.
I especially enjoyed the large pool, which was perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. The location is quiet and away from the busy tourist areas of Tropea, yet still very convenient thanks to the navette service to both the beach and the town center.
Food-wise, the hamburger sandwich wasn’t my favorite, but the kitchen was very accommodating and prepared a dish that wasn’t on the menu, which I truly appreciated.
Overall, Ananea delivered a peaceful, comfortable stay with great service. I’ll definitely be back.
One aspect that did not meet my expectations was the access to Blanca Beach. The water there was noticeably more turbulent compared to Lungomare Beach nearby. Although two loungers and an umbrella at Lungomare can be pricey, the clear and calm waters made the experience far more pleasant.
Given that Lungomare Beach is only about 500 meters away, I’m not sure why Ananea hasn’t partnered with them to offer better pricing or preferred access for guests. Such a partnership would significantly enhance the overall beach experience.
Hotel is in an awful location. It is directly next to an abandoned building, with garbage thrown all over and uncontrolled and over grown weeds. Bugs everywhere from the garbage.

Pool service and pool menu could improve
The property is new, modern and very well presented. The pool area is lovely, and there is also a nice bar, which we enjoyed. Breakfast was good and the quality was nice.
Of course. I would phrase it as a sewage/drain smell rather than “sewers,” as it sounds more appropriate in a review:
We booked a suite as we were travelling as a family of three with our daughter, and we had expected some separation between the bedroom and the living area with the sofa bed. Unfortunately, the suite was completely open-plan, with no door separating the two areas. We would have really appreciated being able to close off the bedroom for more privacy, particularly when travelling with a teenager.
The bathroom was also quite small, which was a little disappointing for a suite, especially considering the price of the property.
Another issue was an unpleasant sewage or drain smell in the lobby area. Thankfully, there was no smell inside our bedroom, but it was noticeable when walking through the lobby. For a luxury property at this price point, this is definitely something that should be addressed, as it affects the first impression when entering the property.
Overall, considering the premium price we paid for a suite, we expected a little more in terms of space, privacy and attention to these details.

The standard room where we stayed was a little dark as we were expecting more window light.
