There were parties happening across the room from us every night, with different groups almost daily. It often felt like people were booking the rooms just for gatherings, with food being delivered every few minutes by butlers carrying trays back and forth. The constant noise and lack of consideration from guests made it hard to believe this was meant to be a 5-star hotel experience.
On top of that, the hotel hosted two or three wedding functions every other day, which added to the chaos. If you enjoy a lively, party-style atmosphere, this place might suit you. Otherwise, there are far better options available for the same price.
The housekeeping staff were far more professional and better presented than the team at the front desk, which was disappointing for a hotel positioning itself as a 5-star property.
The hotel is also extremely noisy and clearly in need of upgrades and better management standards. If they want to market themselves as a true 5-star hotel and charge premium rates, then the overall experience, service, and atmosphere need to reflect that. At the moment, it feels more like a 3–4 star property being sold at luxury prices, which can leave guests feeling misled given the amount being charged.
Location, entrance zone and the room design
I was put off by the state of the room. The bathroom had been cleaned poorly; there was grime on the fittings; the bath mat was filthy; the balcony windows were dirty; the corridor light switch didn’t work; and the bedside lamps could only be switched off by pulling the plug out of the socket. I reported all these issues to the staff, who all sympathetically assured me that everything would be fixed, but no action was taken. Another issue was the events held at the hotel. Because of these, we didn’t sleep at all one night, as workers were banging away with metal beams and electric saws in the garden right outside our window preparing to the forum. The garden is always booked for weddings, forums, etc. This is the first hotel where the staff have simply ignored requests to stop the noise from night-time work. As a result, the noisy work continued all night and into the morning.
Looks like a luxury old style hotel. Staff are friendly, the restaurant is pretty. Food was nice.
The room and bathroom all needs a good update .
The property is not close to Thamel area
Outside rooms all are nice.
Rooms very old set up
Toilet bowl worst then public toilet.
Professional and caring staff
Delicious breakfast and food in general
Swimming pool area is a nice refuge from the business of KTM; swimming pool/sauna combined do wonders after time in the hills
When I was staying, there were big celebrations in the garden area on both nights. Both finished by 10 pm or so but it would have been nice to be able to use the garden in the evening.
1. Location was best for me as my relatives and friends are in and around Lalitpur
2. Room standard was as per my expectations both in terms of size and cleanliness.
3. Staff right from the reception till the house keeping were so helpful and courteous.
4. Kitchen and Bar Staff was more than welcoming and so full of warmth.
5. Swimming Pool was upto the mark in terms of cleanliness and hygiene.
6. Overall the property fair mix of modern amenities and greenery.
Will have to stay more to mark them negetive but for now the hotel is perfect.
Centrally located. Amazing staff!
Outdated bathrooms
Excellent amenities and very friendly well trained staff
The rooms are very dated, if it wasn’t for the amenities, this would be 3 star max
We had a mixed stay at Hotel Himalaya. The rooms and public areas are very clean, the garden is well maintained, and the rooms are quiet. However, check‑in was cold and no information about the hotel was given, and we had to ask for luggage help. The room has no bedside light switch or did have a light switch, but it was hidden inside the drawer of the dresser, so we couldn’t know about it because the hotel description was missing , the minibar was empty, and there is no proper hotel guide. Breakfast is very poor, sandwiches are often leftover, and restaurant service is chaotic – orders are often forgotten or only come after repeated requests. Several men in black suits walk around the restaurant and watch everything, which gives the impression that there are far too many staff, and there is no small shop to buy essentials. The hotel is okay for sleep and location, but service and food really need improvement.
The size of the rooms, tge beds were really comfortable, the service, food, location away from the road. Lovely relaxing environment.
There was loud works being done in the property in the floor that I was staying. The hotel wasn’t full so I would have thought the staff would have selected rooms as far away from the works rather than on the same floor and only a couple of doors away.
The pool was also quite dirty round the edges, although it was cleaned daily. I think this is just grime from the pollution?
Great walkable location, peaceful, good food outlets nearby
