L'emplacement était idéal.
The location in Asakusa was excellent for exploring, extremely quiet and tranquil, and right next to the Asakusa train station, making it easy to get around the city. The hotel staff went above and beyond helping us arrange to have some luggage sent to the airport to be picked up later.
After 2 weeks traveling through Japan we gladly came back to this place knowing it would cater for our needs. But the family room on the 6th floor which we booked exceeded all our expectations. This was the real Japanese feeling, superbly chosen materials, a luxurious bath, a spacious tatami room and a seperate living room. One of the best rooms we had in Japan so far.
We've been in this house twice, 12 days apart. There was no mention of any sign of the staff even noticing this. We were greeted super friendly but had to go through all the check-in procedures as on our first arrival. They could at least have stored the copies of our passports...

Staying at Kaminarimon Ryokan was one of the highlights of our Tokyo trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed — attentive, warm, and thoughtful without ever being intrusive. That balance is rare and speaks to a level of hospitality that’s deeply Japanese in the best possible sense.
The room was excellent. Beautifully appointed, well-maintained, and — the detail that still has us talking — a grand view directly onto Kaminarimon Gate. Waking up to one of Tokyo’s most iconic landmarks right outside your window is something you simply don’t forget.
The location in Asakusa is perfect: Senso-ji steps away, great food options all around, and easy access to the rest of the city. Yet the ryokan itself feels like a quiet retreat from the city’s pace.
We will absolutely come back. If you’re looking for an authentic Tokyo experience that combines genuine hospitality with a location that’s hard to beat, look no further.
A truly authentic Japanese Ryokan experience in the center of Tokyo! I had a lovely 5 night stay here on the tail end of my trip. It’s in a touristy part of town but as soon as you enter it’s a quiet oasis of calm - they have really good sound proofing! I stayed in a Japanese style room with a Tatami mat. It was so clean and they offer a welcome treat. Everything was very well thought out and staff were so polite.
Just a suggestion: I wish I had known beforehand that you have to book/reserve the limited places for the traditional Japanese breakfast. Unfortunately when I checked in, it was full for my entire stay :-( Also, I would have liked a bit more help/advice on how to get to Narita Airport. I ended up paying 27,000 Yen for a taxi but I think I could have caught a shared cab from another hotel…
