Good hotel but you can also fine better value for same money
Pros:

Quite spacious room and well decorated.
Location is near old fort and local shops.
Rooftop terrace and pool are nice

Cons:

A lot of noise heard when you try to sleep coming from staff, music, other guests, etc…
Restaurant (dinner) was not that good. Beef burger patty had a weird texture (not sure was 100% meat) and found a couple of stones in the lentils (dal).
Price was relatively expensive compared to equivalent options.

Great stay !!
Pros:

Really good location, we loved the rooftop and pool as well as gym. Great that they had water machines available in the gym and the rooftop. The room was really well equipped with toiletries, towels, bathrobes and a fridge. Beds were super comfortable as well. We stayed fo 12 days total and highly recommend. Staff were so friendly too!!! Overall great price for stay :)

Cons:

The wifi didnt work for around 4-5 days of our stay. This was fine but we had to go elsewhre to get work done. Also TV didnt work for the duration of this time. Also odd but one day when I was filling my water up from the machine on the rooftop I was told by staff I had to pay for the water. The exact same machine is in the gym so I just went downstairs… Bizarre as on other days I could fill it up from the tap on the rooftop. Also, bear in mind staff and others move furniture around quite early (around 5-6am) so this disrupted my sleep at points. Odd but didnt happen everyday so maybe it depends ont he time of year? We had cocktails a few nights on the rooftop- they were good but nothing to write home about - I recommend trying cape town fish market for cheap happy hour cocktails (really nice) and upendo hotel - really good!!!

Good hotel in down town Stone Town
Pros:

Very nice hotel at downtown Stone Town. Location is really good near all the main activities. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. Room was clean and nice. Cleaning ladies did their job very well every day. Air conditioning functioned properly and was easy to use.

Elevator didn't work. Climbing the stairs in heat was tiresome. We can't recommend this hotel to those who have disabilities. Also live music every night at the rooftop restaurant was lousy. Otherwise our experience was very positive.

Stay at Maru Maru
Pros:

It was an ok stay but a bit pricey for the standards I met. Food wasn’t very spectacular at the breakfast buffet as well. Other than that, location was central and it was difficult to climb up the stairs due to its narrow width and winding design.
