A little disappointing
Pros:

Nice place, nice staff.

Cons:

What was a very small room cost £165 per night and the bar and restaurant were priced at London Town prices (£48 for the bottom of the range wine) which was a little disappointing. Rooms were supposed to have hairdryers, none available. No wardrobe or place for clothes in the room. TV didn't work on arrival and what was a huge bathroom had a constantly running extractor fan. Breafast was £39 for two people.
All in all it felt like a hotal that was desperate to be in the London gang but lived a bit too far away.
Not what we hoped for or expected.

Pros:

Comfortable bed

Cons:

The kettle had to go on the floor as the lead was too short,so the chair had to be moved.cupbord sized room .Water was undrinkable for tea and coffee, there was a small can of still and sparking water!.we had to find a shop that sold bottled water .There was only one light switch at one side of the bed which was a dimmer for 2 spots and 2 bedside lights .The lights flickered when you walked by the end of the bed
That's not a quirky room ,poor electrics couldn't wait to leave

A perfect anniversary getaway with exceptional service, a stunning room, and unforgettable hospitality—we couldn’t have
Pros:

The room was absolutely stunning—truly one of a kind. Every detail was beautifully designed, combining luxury, comfort, and character in a way that made it feel really special. It was spotless, spacious, and had everything we needed for a perfect stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better room and would happily stay here again.

Stunning place to stay and eat, great service only let down was the snug room being a little tired.
Pros:

The main areas and food were lovely. Very beautiful, relaxing and the staff were incredibly helpful and polite. Air conditioned rooms in a heatwave were so welcome. The bedding was super comfortable, clean and soft. There were plenty of towels and robes. It was quiet.

Cons:

This was our second visit. It was let down by the snug room. It felt a little tired, in need of some improvements like a new mattress, carpet washing, drain clearing, and a TV that connects to the Internet.

Fantastic stay! Highly recommend.
Pros:

We had an amazing two night stay here! We had a Boujee room with a bath at the end of the bed, a wet room and a courtyard terrace. Exceptional value. From the second we ‘checked in’ on the bus reception everyone was fun, friendly and so relaxed. We were walked to our room where all services and amenities were explained on the way and it made the arrival so exciting. The room itself was really fun and funky and really helps you relax just being yourself (there’s not much room for privacy from your partner!) we found it a great way to just find the joy in all the quirks. (A bath tub which fills from the ceiling is definitely a quirk!) The gardens were beautiful with just the right level of music. Drinks were lovely and whilst we didn’t eat here, the food smelled amazing! Throughout the whole stay every staff member we passed made pleasantries and made you feel welcome any time day or night. With a BP/M&S next door (though you really don’t here any noise), a £20 uber to Oxford and a 25 minute drive to Bicester Village, literally everything about this unique hotel was great from style and service to location. Expectations absolutely exceeded. We will most definitely be back! Thank you Crazy Bear team!

Lovely meal but dissapointing stay
Pros:

As our 1st wedding anniversary treat we decided to stay at the crazy bear, stadhampton and I am unfortunately writing this review now.

On arrival we found reception in a vintage red bus and we were met by the very friendly and helpful reception staff. The querkiness was apparent through the bar, restaurant and garden areas which all had a very relaxed and holiday vibe.

We chose a boujee room to stay in at a cost of £450 per night and from looking at the website we were expecting extravagance and fine details.

On following the receptionist 2 mins up the nearby single lane road, past a few residential properties, we walked down a gravel drive and Into an un-assuming house.

Within the house we were shown our room which in first glance looked like the photos although a little dated , but was notably very dark with the blinds being down and the black and purple velour decor.

We only stopped in the room for a few minutes as we wanted to visit the bar and garden and prepare for our dinner reservation.

The bar and gardens are very nice with a relaxing and chilled vibe, and was a perfect place to unwind after a near 2hr drive to get there.

We ate our meal in the garden dining area next to the pond and the service and food was excellent.

We decided to return to our room to watch the England match and have a nice bath, and this is where our stay began to get dissapointing.

On attempting to run the bath, the main feature to the room with it being at the end of the bed, it became apparent we could not get any cold water. We called room service at which it was now 930 at night, to which they promptly attended.

The young lady fiddled with the bath and promptly pulled the temperature control off the bath... this would be why we could not change the temperature.

She kindly stated she will get more help but with it now being quite late we opted for a shower Instead as we just wanted to enjoy our anniversary evening together. We did make it clear how dissapointed we were and that it had ruined our evening of which she apologised.

On using the shower it was found to be full of limescale with the jets shooting off in all directions... again dissapointing and absolutely soaked the floor.

The bathroom did not have a door, of which you could see it used to, which again made going toilet etc not as private as we both liked.

This now got us looking for more issues of which we unfortunately found....
- The TV remote was missing its back.
- No mini bar or fridge
- No tea bags or hot chocolate only coffee pods.
- No bottled water, just 2 cans and 2 glasses.
- Dried lipstick stain on bedding
- Poo stain on towel
- Water stain on ceiling where tap pours into bath
- No lighting by mirror to do make up so wife took mirror outside.
- Pillows and bedding smelled of old cigarette smoke
- chipped bath and looking dated and old.
- Cleaner cupboard outside our door of which they started at 8am banging the doors and waking us up.

The manager did come to our door at 10pm whilst we were relaxing, with a bottle of champagne, of which we sent him away as we just wanted to chill and saw as an insult.

We did not receive anything for our anniversary of which they were aware of, and would of expected a nice dessert gesture or similar.

For this price we were extremely dissapointed and feel we would of had a better experience at a much cheaper location or got the 5 star treatment this price range should offer, elsewhere.

The finer details are lacking and the room was run down, broken and we feel not given any TLC for a few years.

Highly recommend the food and bar but if you stay please lower your expectations or look elsewhere for much better value.

Amazing Surprise Party
Pros:

We held a surprise party in the Glass House at the Crazy Bear, Stadhampton in April and it exceeded all our expectations

The venue was absolutely stunning, the food was exceptional and the service was outstanding from start to finish. The good weather enabled us to have the doors open and use the lovely outside area to relax in.

A special thank you goes to Ffion, Ian and Guy, who all went above and beyond to make sure everything ran perfectly. Their attention to detail, professionalism and genuine care helped make the surprise a complete success and ensured everyone had an unforgettable time.

Nothing was too much trouble and the whole team made us feel incredibly well looked after. We received so many compliments from our guests about the venue, the delicious food and the fantastic atmosphere.

We wouldn’t hesitate to go again and thank everyone involved for making it such a memorable day.

Crazy experience but need to improve customer experience and hospitality.
Pros:

The bar and restuarant were nice but the rooms were a 10min walk with a house conversion into multiple rooms.

Cons:

The room 20 which I was given was facing the main road and it was impossible to get any sleep with the sound of traffic. It was really not worth the money i paid for this hotel. I even flagged this to reception in the morning while handing over keys and they just nodded with acknowledgement with no further recourse or any gesture for customer concerns.

Lovely staff but filthy tired room
Pros:

Fabulous food, lovely garden and seating areas but the room sadly disappointed caked in dust, a lingering smell of cigarettes no doubt absorbed from the balcony into the velvet walls. Sadly disappointed and wouldn’t return!
Lovely staff, but filthy tired room. Photos of cobwebs, broken sink and tired looking shower.

Crazy Bear
Pros:

Loved the quirky decor and themes, the staff were wonderful, the check in was awesome. Parking was fantastic.food was excellent. ,

Cons:

There was a function on and despite various calls prior asking if I knew about it, I was never given the details regarding my stay.. after a 3h drive and not being able to use the secret garden or outside area, it was a real shame that the music was heard in our room after we went to bed as needed a 4am alarm for the F1 British Grand Prix. Better communication would have been appreciated.. could have benefitted from USB ports to charge things.

Very disappointing, we would not go back!!!
Pros:

The gardens were really nice and felt like we were abroad, thank you x
The burger was outstanding.

The Wild Pig farm shop, was the highlight of our stay and we would go there again.

Cons:

If felt like we had come to a very disreputable hotel, like the olden day brothels you see on the t.v.
The carpet in the room was dirty, there was barely any room to get around the bed, the glass on the inside toilet door is broken, the shower head needs descaling and the shower was tricky to get a good temperature.
The bed was very uncomfortable, I believe it needs a new mattress, a few stains on the pillow cases and the room just felt unclean and disappointing.

Service was great to start with, then after the food check, did not have contact with anyone for well over half an hour, in-fact we left our table and went for a stroll to be found over an hour later by the waitress. She apologised for the service we received.

I reported all this to the lady on the desk on checking out and she was sorry to hear of our disappointment. I explained that I would not recommended the hotel but the food we had was outstanding, best burger we’ve had in a long while.

We do not feel that we should have to pay for the stay, but no offer of a refund was made.

I look forward to your response!
