Mostly praised as clean and spotless in several reviews, though one report noted mildew in the shower and some shoddy plumbing.
Service
7.8
Staff at the bar and restaurant are described as lovely and helpful, but multiple guests cited a lack of greeting, minimal human contact and mostly portal-based interactions.
Location
9.2
Consistently praised: ideal for train access to Edinburgh, close to airport and local amenities, quiet setting and pleasant grounds.
Room Quality
8.2
Beds are frequently described as very comfortable and some rooms are spacious and beautiful, but a few guests reported very small rooms, tiny showers and plumbing issues.
Amenities
8
Good on-site bar/restaurant, coffee machine in suites and Netflix on TV mentioned positively; negatives include no fridge in some rooms, warm rooms and lighting issues on the deck.
Value for Money

Generally positive food and setting, but some guests flagged extra costs (per-person breakfast, refundable security fee) and limited included breakfast options affecting perceived value.
Food and Beverage
9
Frequently highlighted as excellent — lovely meals, great coffee and pizza; though there are isolated reports of no evening meal being available on arrival.
Overall Experience

Pros:

Great location for a trip to Stirling and meeting family.

Cons:

Pros:

The lodges were newly refurbished rooms that were very clean and renovated to a high standard. Excellent shower. The restaurant food was very nice.

Cons:

We booked house keeping for Saturday but they didn't come until Sunday. The noise levels from the next apartment along were not great (lodge 1 I think). We could hear there Radio/TV quite late and first thing in the morning.

Disappointing for the price I paid per night.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

The toilet seat was broken and the shower screen was broken and did not close properly. The towel rail was rusty. There was a coffee machine but no kettle and no crockery available to make a cup of tea, if you did not like coffee then there were no other options. The breakfast to go was very overpriced and consisted of a croissant, a yogurt pot, a ready made porridge pot and a can of J20 - at £14pp I would have expected to have a choice of what was available and felt that the item was overpriced. The advert did not match the accommodation as it stated a lodge and we arrived and were housed in the main building. There was no access to the outside area as this was only available to those who were housed in the lodges. Whilst friendly, the staff were not around much to give any feedback regarding the broken/rusty items in the bathroom. Overall I was disappointed with the accommodation and felt it did not match the price I paid for the stay.

Pros:

The staff were very polite and friendly. The location is very good .

Cons:

The bathroom was a renovated and fabulous but in shower there was no rack of anything to keep your shower gel etc. Further the check in time being 4pm , I personally felt it is too late.

A ver disappointing place!!
Pros:

Location close to family event.

Cons:

This is not a hotel!! It masquerades as such with a sign out the front saying “Bankton House Hotel”, but in fact it is ‘boarding rooms’ above a pub! There is no interaction with the rest of the facilities except if you decide to go for a drink in the bar. There was no restaurant open when we arrived in a Wed evening at 7pm! There is no greeting, just a code for the door!! As a foreign traveler this place is a no!! There is no support or help with anything.. this is not a hotel!
The room itself was tiny. The bathroom is useable but tiny shower stall, poor water pressure and shoddy with mildew perhaps more in the shower area, and plumbing that did not work! !!
