Lunch menu not great
All very nice
Great for a short relaxing break. Evesham is interesting and is close by.
The history of the place could be explained better in photos and available literature.
The staff were friendly and approachable. The grounds and main hotel building are well maintained. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast; there was an excellent choice of pastries, cereals and yogurt to choose from.
Our room was a good size; there was a bath with a shower plus a separate shower. The queen size bed had a hard mattress but both hubby and I slept well. Loki and Thor, the resident kittens are lovely; they greeted us each time we walked into the main building!
There is a spa in a separate building and can be accessed by paying an extra fee. Unfortunately the swimming pool is not free to guests of the hotel.
The room itself was very tired and in need of a coat of paint and new fixtures. At first glance, the room appeared clean but there were several cobwebs in the corners as well as hanging from the light fitting. The bathroom had a couple of broken tiles and spots of black mould around the taps and hinges. Our room was in a separate building (Pear Tree Mews) and I couldn't help but get the impression that this part of the hotel is somewhat neglected.
The view from our window was several large, bright orange wheelie bins. The poor view was not mentioned when I booked; had I known this, I would have been prepared to pay extra for a decent view. If I had been scoring the hotel as it is done on a certain channel 4 show, I would probably have paid £10 or £15 less than the asking price! Almost worth the money it cost but not quite which is a real shame as The Wood Norton is a 4* hotel.
The hotel itself is very impressive with the interior living up to expectations from the outside grandeur. It is a lovely setting with well tended garden and terrace with pleasant views. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet even though next to a busy road.
We stayed in Pear Tree Mews, a separate building next to the main hotel. We were disappointed to find that it was nothing like the hotel itself. Although very comfortable with a decent ensuite - although the extractor fan didn't work and the bath/shower plug hole needed unblocking - with the usual amenities, it had none of the charm of the hotel with plain grey corridors with doors leading off. The rooms were plain with practical rather than attractive furniture. We were celebrating a special anniversary and it just wasn't as special as we were hoping. We booked through booking.com so maybe it would be better to book directly with the hotel and get a room in the main hotel itself.
The lounges, the view, the setting, ev charging
Lack of communication by management to the young but enthusiastic staff about availability of bar menu only on Mon to Thurs.
The rooms are very nice, and where I was it was also very quiet, which I appreciated. The bar was very convivial too. All of the staff were very pleasant, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately I wasn't there long enough to really make use of all the facilities...perhaps on my next visit !
My only problem was that the room I had was in a separate building from the main hotel, and from that room it was quite a trek up a very steep hill to get to the carpark. Luckily I didn't have much to carry myself, but my colleague had quite a bit of gear, and even dropping this off at the main reception and walking up from there wasn't easy. Someone showed us a short cut across the grass to the carpark but this would only be feasible if the grass was as dry as it was when we visited...and when we got to the top of the hill a water pipe was leaking, and had turned the area around it into a bog which we struggled to get around ! None of this is the fault of the hotel, but I think the distance of some of the rooms from reception needs to be made more clearly known when booking, as elderly or disabled people would have trouble getting up the hill to accommodation buildings.

The hotel itself was beautiful and the breakfast was good. The bed was very comfortable and the tea/coffee facilities were great.
The bathroom also had lovely shower gels and the shower was very good.
The lady checking us in at reception kept putting her fingers in her mouth and handing us paper and a pen after, this for me was just not acceptable.
Instead of having a room in the hotel we were put in a room in the court yard. The room was okay but was not very clean. The headboard of the bed was thick with dust. There were a few spiders in the room. The windowsills had not been dusted and hold mold on them. Some parts of the bathroom also had mold. Part of the wall had mold and the wall paper was coming off.
The remote for the telly was thick with grime and dirt and had definitely not been cleaned in quite some time. I actually had to dampen a towel and clean the place and the remote before I could use it.
Hotel felt very traditional / Olde English which was great. Restaurant was very good!
There was an iron and ironing board.
No fridge in room. Could not get BBC1 on the (small) TV.
Leisure facility needed to be booked in advance at an extra charge.
