Well located only five minutes walk into the old Central Square of Ax, where most of the shops and restaurants are. The room was reasonably modern, comfortable and with a good sized balcony. They room had blackout electric shutters, which were vital as I stayed during one of the many heatwaves of summer 2026. A fan was provided, and while A/C would have been appreciated, I realise it is unlikely at this price point. The owners were friendly and there was a good continental breakfast.

Cons:

While just right for one person, the room would be a squeeze for two.

The breakfast was great, although they could have catered for gluten-free a bit better. Comfortable bed. Not the kindest of welcomes, but, again, it was a heatwave!

The room was incredibly hot in summer, even though the blinds were shut, but it was a heatwave so understandable.

Ruhiges Hotel mit herausragendem Frühstück
Pros:

Das Hotel liegt etwas abseits vom Zentrum und ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Der Balkon mit Blick auf den rauschenden Bach hat mir gefallen, empfindlichere Personen könnten das stete Rauschen als störend empfinden. Das Zimmer ist einfach gehalten, ohne jeden Schnickschnack. Das Bett war bequem, bis auf die Kissen. Sie waren klumpig und unangenehm Und könnten mal getauscht werden. Das Frühstück ist ausserordentlich gut, mit qualitativ hervorragenden Produkten. Besonders erwähnen möchte ich die selbst gemachten Konfitüren und das Kompott, die Gelegenheit, selber Eier zu kochen und das sehr frische und gute Brot. Kuchenliebhaber finden eine reiche Auswahl.

Cons:

Bad und Wc sind getrennt, das finde ich immer etwas unpraktisch. Das WC ausserdem winzig und ohne Fenster und ohne gute Lüftung.

Excellent séjour à Hôtel le Chalet de Ax les Thermes
Pros:

Très bien situé dans un très beau village. Les chambres sont grandes, avec une vue sur une petite rivière, dans une section de l’hôtel qui semble toute neuve. Beaux planchers en bois franc, ce qui est rare. Balcon pour profiter de la vue des montagnes. Les hôtes Magalie et Frédéric sont vraiment sympathiques, aimables et dévoués.

Cons:

Un petit frigo dans la chambre serait apprécié quoique nos hôtes ont offert de refroidir notre eau dans leur frigo.

Friendly, lovely location, good beds, good breakfast.
Pros:

Location next to a lovely arboretum with a thermal waterfall! Delightful welcome by lovely hosts. Breakfast was very nice (big choice) but we had fine croissants, muesli and yogurt not too sweet (hurrah!) and a fridge with lots of milk for the coffee. Room nice and warm (it was cold!) with a tree mural and downstairs there was some lovely art and thoughtful decor. Only caveat was (personally) I would have liked a comfy chair in the room and more, comfortable upholstered dining chairs in the dining room. It had a very nice view though. All round recommended, a proper hotel. Thanks to the owners and staff!

Cons:

Upholstery- but I think that an awful lot of places lack them - comfortable chairs and sofas are rare but desirable.
