It was fine for a night attending a funeral
Pros:

Central location

Cons:

There was no food available on Monday. No chef. Didn’t ask on Tuesday morning

Pros:

the location was excellent, staff very pleasant

Cons:

The room was very hot, only very small window could open, mattress on bed was very soft, feel it needs replaced, and could not get any breakfast as chef was on holiday

Curate's Egg
Pros:

The room was perfect for our needs: on the coast to coast route, in a pretty market town. Great shower, very good tea tray ( which you could replenish yourself which was really helpful), games and books to borrow, peaceful room ( but pub was empty / closing early so who knows normally), clean bedroom.

Cons:

Kitchen closed , no breakfast.

Happy in KS
Pros:

Very quiet on a Sunday night with no football, we slept very well. Our window opened onto the main street, an "A":road, but very little traffic overnight. Excellent place for a night walking the C2C

Cons:

No breakfast available on a Monday morning but collected fresh stuff from Co-op 300m away and had a sunny picnic outside on the pubvtables

Pros:

The bedroom was clean, a good size and quiet, being on the top floor and the back of the property.

Cons:

The rest of the property was tired, grubby and dismal. I was going to stay for dinner but decided to go elsewhere as the dining area looked dirty. They only served a cooked breakfast so I went out and bought my own fruit etc

Pros:

Die Zentrumslage, das vergleichsweise große Zimmer und die angenehme Gaststätte im Erdgeschoss

Cons:

Frühstück gab es erst ab 9:00 Uhr. Bei der Coast to Coast-Wanderung möchte man gerne früh los wandern.

Disappointed, I'm afraid
Pros:

The bed was comfortable

Cons:

We advised prior to arrival that our bags were being dropped off, but were met with resistance, so not great customer service from the outset. Upon arriving, we felt like an inconvenience. We were shown where the exit was for when we left the following day before anything else !

Our room was hot and this was before the heat wave ! We had the window open and a fan on all night, but we did not sleep well

Breakfast was only available from 9am. Being on the Coast 2 Coast, we wanted to get up and out, but the chef was not available to cook any earlier

Spoilt by bathroom design
Pros:

Great location and really friendly staff

Cons:

The separate bathroom was tragic. The bath was too small to have a proper bath and no screen or curtain to make it a proper shower. You ended up sitting in the bath showering with the pipes off the tap, like a child.

Nice short stay
Pros:

Friendly staff upon arrival. Was in the village for the Yomp weekend. All I needed was a place to stay and this was great. Centrally located/comfy bed

Good location
Pros:

The Black Bull Hotel offered reasonable accommodation at a fair price. The breakfast was decent and included in the price.

Cons:

The shower head was cracked so the water went everywhere, a minor irritation though. Breakfast has to be paid for the night before as bar staff are not available in the mornings to take payment. The earliest breakfast sitting is 9 am which is rather late when an early start is needed.
