Great overall experience if you want to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Hobart
Pros:

Staff created a welcoming environment and were very hospitable. Great, quiet location not too far from Hobart. A wine by the fireplace was a wonderful way to relax.

Cons:

Might be challenging on a hot day without aircon but the wall heaters in the bathroom and bedroom were sufficient during my winter stay. Carpet stain detract from an otherwise wonderful one night stay

Beautiful location, old charm and friendly/helpful new owner.

Cons:

Toilet hadn’t been cleaned. Seat left up with urine on rim and toilet seat. Pubic hair on bathroom table and hairs in sink. Hot shower tap handle fell off after turning shower on. Had no choice but to put hand/arm under scorching hot water to grab handle to switch off. No sound proofing, heard every sound from downstairs. Balcony doors weren’t sealed so let in very cold air and then with local burn-off’s and lingering smoke in the air, the room filled with smoke and it was very difficult to sleep/breathe with no escaping the strong smoke (burn-offs not the property’s fault, but proper sealing of doors would have helped enormously) and the beautiful pool shown in pictures is out of order until replacements made.

It felt like a scene from a book!
Pros:

We loved the location and the amazing views from our room. The villa is beautifully designed and a pleasure to explore. The owner was very kind and we had a lovely evening swim in the pool. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Cons:

We didn't realise the process for after hours entry to the villa but that was a simple omission and was quickly sorted with a phone call.

Cosy, comfortable room. Well appointed & clean. Welcoming host & beautiful location. Liked the ‘guesthouse’

Cons:

We are pretty relaxed about food but the cooking of the breakfast was not great, especially for the cost. The environment was lovely, the staff warm & classic menu good. Would love cooking to be refined for sake of lovely place, as it’s an amazing visit but we’re all a bit spoiled for good food these days.

Villa Howden is European luxury without the long haul flight
Pros:

Stunning property in a gorgeous location. Our own little slice of Tuscany or provincial France. Akin to a lake Como residence you will feel a James Bond/ George Clooney vibe akin to living out a movie fantasy. Can’t recommend the hospitality and Phil’s attention to detail enough. A very special place worth the destination itself. Great place for a group or an event. Fantastic place for a wedding I imagine. Can’t wait to go back.

This place was such a beautiful little haven. It is definitely somewhere where you should stay for a while just so that you can properly take it all in. The manager informed us that they were in the process of making improvements.

Cons:

I didn't like that we had to leave after only one night.
