La climatisation ne fonctionnait vraiment pas bien dans notre chambre… et il faisait très très chaud!

One small criticism - a friendly staff member was showing us the way to the restaurant when a manager pulled him away to talk about the a/c in the Lobby. The staff member said he was with some guests but the manager blanked us and continued to rant about keeping the reception door closed! Other than that all the staff were lovely. The managers - not so. Perhaps they need a reminder about customer service - and the best way to talk to their staff.

The staff at reception and concierge were outstanding — incredibly welcoming and helpful, and a real highlight of the stay.
The arrival experience was quite unusual, as I hadn’t realised the townhouse accommodation was located across the road from the main reception. As a result, it initially felt more like entering a hostel than a hotel setting.
While the room itself was comfortable, the fact that it wasn’t connected to the main hotel felt disconnecting. I had also requested a very quiet room, as I am a light sleeper, but was allocated a street-facing room, which was affected by traffic noise and a nearby bar.
The bed appeared to have a poor mattress, hidden under a large topper.
Location fantastic for the Barbican theatre. Room compact but comfortable and excellent aircon which cooled the room without blowing cold air on you. Good breakfast, great staff
Some of the bathroom lights were not working. Very heavy fire door between entrance area to the room where the wardrobe and tea facilities were and the main room. Difficult balancing the hot drinks and a nuisance when going backwards and forwards to the wardrobe

My biggest concern was about the breakfast host - a really nice (French?) lady, but she was coughing every single morning throughout my entire stay. Sick employees shouldn’t be around guests and definitely not around food, in my personal opinion. Also, the A/C in the room didn’t work and it was very hot, with no windows to open. Also, the ”Barbican” wing is across the street from the hotel - unable to comfortably use the gym, and lack of a pedestrian crossing made me wait sometimes even a few minutes to get to the main part of the hotel and back. Very uncomfortable with kids or during bad weather
We had to wait about 20 minutes, the staff wanted to check if they received the paymemt.

Frühstücksraum war auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite. Ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen, aber sehr charmant.

My AC was faulty, informed the reception desk immediately I checked in but realised when I returned at 2am that nothing was done about it
Mentioned it at checkout and the team apologised and waived my breakfast costs
Location was the only thing that we appreciated about this hotel. Breakfast restaurant was always crowded, but food was plenty.
In the first room they gave us there was a constant buzzing noise, probably from the AC units that were on the roof- it was a room on the last floor. Second room was on ground floor facing an inner courtyard where other AC units were. Luckily, with windows closed, the noise was acceptable. But windows were very small in triggered my claustrophobia a couple of times.
Good location for my purposes.
Room decor was dated and worn. Lacking in modern and conveniently located technology charging options.
