Family room was spacious and bed was comfy. They don't do breakfast but there are several good options nearby.
Location brilliant can’t rate the breakfast as we didn’t have one
Nothing
Very friendly and relaxed people. I was made to feel very welcome and wouldn't hesitate to use this place again.
The shower was too hot! The temperature wouldn't turn down. I did not mention this at the time so I assume they would have helped if I'd asked.
Good Central location and excellent value for money.
The room was very tired. They were obviously in the process of redecorating to make improvements which will hopefully improve things. Both nights there loud music playing and noisy drinkers below the window. One night into the early hours. If we want to get a good night's sleep don't book at the weekend.
The friendly welcome
Nothing everything was brilliant
Good location, room ok but staff & customers in smoking area outside were very noisy late at night.
Noise level.
this is basic hotel for a basic price
The price
Great place just not for me
Showers stunk of poo the tolilets stunk of urine and it was just not for me. I should have booked a room with an en suite so thats down to me
It was nice, but the shower in bathroom is not properly working except that all are very good
Shower in the bathroom
Friendly staff Comfortable beds
Friendly and welcoming staff, clean and good location
It was a convenient room in a good central location. The bed was comfortable and on the whole the place was clean and tidy.
The description was a little misleading - I should have read it more closely. The "family rooms with private bathrooms" may have existed, but I had not booked a family room.
Not having a private bathroom or even a sink in the shared toilet was a slight surprise on arrival, but you could tell they were trying to improve the place. These rennovations were also one of the many conversations I could overhear from the very noisy, well frequented, beer garden below late into the night along with the music from downstairs.
Checking out felt a little strange, having to maneuver past decorators to then abandon my room key on the closed bar and let myself out the front door.
Nothing. The place was appalling.
This place should not be allowed to run as a guest house. There are several areas where the roof has leaked with water stains on walls, wallpaper hanging off ceilings and walls. It doesn't even appear safe.
I will say they were accomodating by letting us in early to attend a wedding in the area.
Strong smell of fresh cigarette smoke in the corridor and in our room upon arriving back after the wedding. This suggests active smoking within the establishment. The property is advertised and no smoking, with clear signs in the rooms to demonstrate this. This continued overnight which entered our room and aggravated my throat. There was no member of staff at the property when we arrived at night, and no member of staff when we checked out. Due to the overwhelming smell, we were forced to leave earlier than planned. We have contacted the hotel privately after the stay to give them the opportunity to respond, but received no reply. We have gave them a week to respond and we have also fed this back via feedback from another 3rd party site. Again with no reply. This will now be raised as a formal complaint.
I received a message from Booking.com advising that if my check-in was after 11 pm, I should call the pub to arrange it. When I phoned, the lady I spoke to was very abrupt and rude. I asked if it would be possible to check in at 12 am, and she immediately said no, stating she would not wait up for me because the pub would be open in the morning.
I was surprised, as I would have expected some alternative option, such as a lockbox or a safe place to leave the key. Instead, she ended the call abruptly without offering any solution or assistance, and our reservation was not cancelled on their end.
I then had to go through Booking.com to try and cancel and request a refund, which was stressful and time-consuming. This situation ultimately left us without accommodation for the night.
Very disappointing experience — I would not recommend due to the poor customer service.
