Varenna is a beautiful place to visit. Expect slow and rude service at every restaurant.
Pros:

The location is perfect! The two women - Titi and the other are super friendly and very helpful.

Cons:

The waitress' at the hotel restaurant are extremely rude, unfriendly and miserable people. Food was decent, but as with every where else in the small city, very expensive for what you get.

Très bon accueil, très bien situé, le parking ok.
Pros:

L'emplacement est pratique, juste derrière l'embarcadère. L'accueil était très bon, le petit déjeuner aussi

Cons:

Nous avions une chambre mansardée, tout était conforme, rien à redire, mais à la reflexion, si nous revenons, nous prendrons un chambre "normale" car pour voir le lac , soit il faut se coucher, soit il faut monter sur une chaise.

Perfect View, incredible experience.
Pros:

This was a beautiful hotel in a perfect location right by the water and the ferry station. The room was spacious and had a gorgeous view, and the staff was very accomodating.

We will definitely be back and will highly recommend Hotel Olivedo to anyone travelling to Varenna.
Pros:

The staff, service and facilities were amazing. The room exceeded our expectations and was very comfortable and the view from the terrace of our room was just spectacular.

Cons:

The train station was very busy when we arrived in Varenna and was hard to navigate through all the people on the narrow platform. We decided to get a car service back to Milan.

Look forward to staying again!
Pros:

Loved the simple but high quality breakfast in the outdoor seating by the lake. Enjoyed the view and watching people stroll to and from the passarella. The staff was friendly and helpful. Best of all was the hotel's restaurant, Locanda Cavallino. Their 5 course dinner/wine pairings all chosen by the chef is not to be missed. We returned to enjoy different chef choices for a 2nd night. The gazpacho was perfetto.

Cons:

Next time may choose a room not on the top floor with conventional windows. Our small windows were either near the floor or very high. But this arrangement was clear when we booked. Therefore, this is not really a complaint but a plan to choose differently next time we stay at Hotel Olivedo.

Fantastiskt läge, alldeles vid färjorna! Underbar utsikt över sjön! Kvinnan i receptionen vet vad service o välkomnande är! Hon bar upp vårt bagage till rummen medan vi var ute på sjön o hon pratade till oss som vi var de viktigaste gästerna någonsin - har nog aldrig känt oss så välkomna någon annanstans! Fantastisk kvinna!

The staff very cooperative although my reservation was non-refundable, but due to my circumstances, they were able to rent it for me and cancel my reservation with refund and no liability.
