Absolutely enjoyed our stay in Machu Picchu at Casa del Sol right from our arrival at the train station. The receptionist was holding a sign with my name on it right outside the train station! It is about a 3 minute walk from the station to the hotel, check in at 1:00PM (big bonus) and we got the room at 12:30PM. Got welcome drinks twice while we were waiting plus they have hot water, tea and water by the entrance throughout the day. Location is perfect with lots of good food choices around. WiFi is good in the building. AC in the room though it’s usually cold in the region anyways. Early breakfast at 5AM which suited us as our tour to Machu Picchu began at 6AM. Best of all, the view outside is of rapids and mountain. I slept with water trickling down the mountain and it sounded like rain. On checkout, the receptionist helped me with my bags up the hill to the train station. No complains at all from my side!

Breakfast suited us well with omelets cooked to order in addition to buffet options (for me toast and blueberry cake), wonderful Swedish massage at the spa by Jasalin - easily booked on arrival afternoon for the following day, had dinner one night which was ok (trout) - didn’t cause any stomach issues, river view was really memorable and nice, bed was huge and comfortable, lobby was a really comfortable place to enjoy a cup of hot tea with a tasteful selection of contemporary music and the sounds and view of the river
I was "upgraded" to the penthouse level and while the enclosed terrace was a lovely addition, a large spider came out of the jacuzzi tub one night, top floor not sound proof with late night music festival - almost sabotaged my pre-Machu Picchu sleeps - required my good earplugs plus wrapping a thick layer around my ears as a headband to sleep, can’t flush the TP, bathroom smell if light flush used, one sink did not drain and maintenance did not attend to it, one night lukewarm water was the hottest I could get in the shower (but subsequent showers were fine)

I was the one who booked both rooms but the staff looked to my children to check in. It was like I was invisible because of my age. They also questioned me at breakfast making me feel like I didn’t belong there.

Very nice hotel, clean and very convenient location, also great breakfast. Melissa was so nice at reception, and very helpful with providing recommendations. She had recommendations for a pisco sour bar that I wish I was around long enough in Macchu Pichu to try! Next time!!
Wonderful hotel, close to everything (train station, shopping, restaurants). We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was wonderful!
