Very calm and nice rooms. Good Food
Kind of mixed feeling about this one, as I'II describe... On the surface of it, everything was very nice and luxurious. Relaxing outdoor area with a lovely pool. Good food in the restaurant. Nice lounge area. Room over two floors was very pleasant. Fairly well equipped gym. Upmarket neighbourhood a world away from the rest of the city. In short, you could easily forget you were in a low income African country.
Considering the cost there were a lot of small things that could have been improved on. Reception staff were a bit standoffish. Most not particularly friendly. I asked on one occasion to change a $20 for two 10's and just got a headshake and a surly look. Poor maintenance of facilities - my partner flushed the toilet in a common area and the cover fell off, frayed towels, showerhead that didn't function well, drain blocked so water spilled over the rusted frame onto the floor, brown hard water fixed to the toilet bowl. One roll of toilet paper provided. We called and asked for another one which never arrived. Had to go and fetch it ourselves. Old towels and water bottles not cleared from the gym, there was a sign asking that you spray the equipment after use but no spray bottles to be found. All this would be easy to overlook at a cheap property but this place is supposed to be high end. A regular coke $5 in the restaurant, ok. A diet coke $15! And they were not next to each other in the menu so I didn't realise until the bill came. Didn't seem to be very good communication between restaurant and reception when it came to paying the food bill before we left.
It was a very nice place. A perfect spot to end our trip to Malawi. But if you proport to be a high end place you need to follow through with higher end service, better maintenance and attention to detail.
Great set-up, especially for a city-based hotel. Lovely gardens and pool area.
It is rather expensive for what it offers, especially the restaurant and the bar. Food is ok, but not great and easily sets you back USD 60-70 per person. A single shot 18-yr Glenlivet costs USD 50 at the bar, just ridiculous. But all in all a good experience, would definitely not think twice if you have to find an attractive hotel in Lilongwe.
The property sits in a lush green area. The garden is nice. Inwas staying in a duplex room and it was very spacious.
I was so much looking forward to my stay! And maybe because of this expectation i was very much disappointed. My room needed renovation - there was a modly smell from the moment you enter, all the windows are closed so I suspect the room did not get any proper air. The floors were so squeaky that i thought I might break it, and that is a bit of a problem especially on top floor that does not have concrete under and is wooden - iron construction. There was a balcony on the top floor that I did not manage to use, as at the door area the floor was fully glassy, and because if unstable floor it gave me creeps everytime i even looked at it. the rooms are decorated with vintage /reused materials that did not help with the optics of cleanliness, but everything was dusty. In the shower - the showerhead was broken, there was mold around the base, toilet had yellow stains, the white tiles had the residue of hairs, and leftover products, i did not have the shower gel and the towels were very worn (stitches comig off). The bedside lamp did not work. Gym was average- I did manage to have a good workout. Food was bad and expensive if you are paying by card/usd . Make sure you arrange to have cash (use unofficial exchanges rather than atm withdrawals). Breakfast was very basic and not very tasty (though yogurt and granola were good).
The superb staff. Very helpful
Nothing
Beautiful grounds and restaurant, nice spacious clean room, great food at the restaurant - the included breakfast was particularly good quality. Spa was great.
Service was mixed - sometimes of the level you’d expect from this sort of hotel, sometimes seemed like guests were an inconvenience. Food was also the most expensive we ate anywhere in Malawi, but probably to be expected from an upscale hotel in the capital
The room and cleanliness
Very limited breakfast menu
The peaceful and private atmosphere
All good stayed there before
All good no issues
Great location lovely gardens and pool and power and water
Staff could be better trained using the bank machine
Evening meal in the restaurant was good as was the breakfast.
Was probably the closest located hotel to the airport.
The room was in need of an update. The bed was uncomfortable, and the bathroom wasn't particularly clean with stains in the toilet bowl and mould round the shower. In the kitchen area the fridge handle had not been cleaned and a dirty t-towel was left for drying up purposes.
Some of the staff were not particularly friendly or helpful, except for the waiter who served us at dinner and the lady checking us out.
The hotel was overpriced for what was actually on offer in comparison to others we have stayed at.
