would not stay at this hotel again nor recomment it to anyone

The room was not ready as promissed, we had to wait for a while, the staff member did not know when it would be ready. On our insistance we were given a room on a different floor. This room had no airconditioning, the TV did not work and the towel rail was off the wall. When we complaint the staff were hesitant to beleive us, but finally agreed to check it out saying that if they could not rectify the problems they would give us a different room again. Finally at 9.30 PM AFTER COMING BACK FROM OUR DINNER, we were given a different room that had none of the problems mentioned.

Good location, but significant Hygiene concerns
Pros:

I stayed at Altius Boutique Hotel between 10 to 17 May with my mother.

There were some positives to our stay. The location was very convenient, being only around a 10-minute walk from Lefkosia town centre, and the staff were generally cooperative and accommodating when we made requests during our stay.

Cons:

Overall, the hotel did not meet what we would expect from a property advertised as 4-star. The breakfast offering was very basic and the facilities and overall standard felt more in line with a lower-rated hotel.

The most concerning issue was that my mother developed a rash during our stay and complained to hotel staff about suspected bed bugs. Following her complaint, she was moved to a different room. During my stay, I woke up with what appeared to be an insect bite after sleeping in my hotel room. At the time, I did not think much of it, but after returning home, the condition worsened significantly. I was later diagnosed with cellulitis, requiring hospital treatment, including IV antibiotics, and time off work.

I raised these concerns with the hotel after my diagnosis. The hotel responded by stating that they had received no similar reports before or after our stay and were confident that the issue was unrelated to the hotel.

While I cannot definitively prove the source of the bite, given that my mother had already raised concerns about suspected bed bugs during our stay and was moved rooms, I believe it is important to share our experience so that future guests can make an informed decision.

While other guests may have a different experience, our stay ultimately fell below our expectations for a 4-star property.
