Pros:

We were able to check in early, and the checkout time is set later than most of the hotels. It was clean all across the hotel facilities, and the staff were polite.

Overall Feedback – Very Disappointing Experience
I am very disappointed with my recent stay at Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel, especially because this was supposed to be a special honeymoon stay. Unfortunately, the experience was far below what I expected from a 5-star hotel.
1. Room & Honeymoon Experience
Before my stay, I specifically requested a nice room and was given a Bayview King Room. However, we were placed on the 19th floor, and the view was very disappointing. Instead of a beautiful bay view, we could mainly see unattractive buildings below.
I also paid RM875 for a room upgrade, so I expected the upgraded room and experience to be worth the additional cost.
To make things worse, the first room given to us was a connecting room, which was completely unsuitable for our honeymoon. I honestly found this very surprising. After paying for an upgraded room, I expected much better room allocation and attention to our request.
There was also significant noise, including what sounded like motorcycle/exhaust noise, which disturbed our honeymoon experience. I was really not happy with this.
I have stayed at Marriott/Renaissance properties before and had higher expectations. Unfortunately, this experience made me feel that the Johor Bahru property was far below the standard I expected.
2. Buffet Dinner – Incorrect Information From Staff
The second issue happened during the buffet dinner.
Before going to the buffet, I called your staff to ask whether there was lobster. The staff at the counter was not sure and checked regarding the noodles instead.
Later, when I entered the buffet, I asked another staff member wearing a black uniform whether lobster was available. She confidently told me that there was lobster.
I then waited around 10 minutes at the seafood section for the lobster. When a kitchen staff member wearing a white uniform came out to replenish the oysters, I asked him about the lobster.

Cons:

Soundproofing of rooms is non existent. Can constantly hear housekeeping speaking to each other and even the vacuum can be heard clearly.

Cons:

It was a little disappointing that a hotel of this chain and reputation does not have the room amenities like a smart TV to be able to connect up a laptop or phone and utilise our own Netflix or other streaming account.

A request for a connection hdmi cable also came up to nought and we were told there was no possibility to do so.
