OK for just one night but not recomended for long stay.
Pros:

Location, spacious, Friendly host lives on-site.

Cons:

A decent set of cutlery would be good instead of bits and pieces of old sets. The carving knife has several big chunks out of the blade. Totally useless. Very old lounge suite and dining table and chairs. The chairs are to uncomfortable to sit in. Fortunately we were only there for one night.

Pros:

Loved the position, the view of the water was limited but we could watch the ships sail in and out of port. Comfortable, clean and felt like a home away from home. I was able to wash clothes and hang them in the sun to dry. We could walk along the wonderful waterfront, to cafes or the shops.

Cons:

We were unaware our apartment was upstairs, just the unpacking of the car was our only concern, we are in our 70's.

Very relaxing and peaceful riverside stay
Pros:

Very spacious, comfortable and well appointed unit in a prime location on the riverfront close to cafes, movies etc. Homely touches like comfy cushions and quality fittings along with a friendly and helpful host and pet dog make it special.

Unparalleled stay and views.
Pros:

The location and views are unbeatable. Rex the host was great. The accommodation was spacious, clean, well equipt, and so comfortable. And great value and beautiful gardens thrown in. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Brilliant! Lovely hosts. Perfect setting. I will definitely stay there again when back in Tassie.
Pros:

The location, looking straight over the river. was brilliant. Large vessels cruised past both night and day on their way to the mainland. Lovely to see so close up and quiet! Beautiful riverside walks. We stayed in the downstairs rear facing garden apartment. Perfect for a mature couple with no stairs.

Cons:

If you are going to cook meals for yourself at Birchwood perhaps confirm what cooking facilities are available in your unit with the hosts before arrival.
