Exceptional Lagos hotel
Pros:

Absolutely outstanding hotel. I arrived late in the evening for just one night, a last-minute addition to a business trip in Nigeria, but I was blown away by the beauty, the design and, more importantly, the service. I made the most of the stay and explored the facilities, which are every bit as impressive.

In the evening I visited the sports bar, where the food and drink selection was excellent. It opens onto a terrace that was stunning under the night sky against the electric Lagos backdrop and I imagine just as lovely by day. I observed several other places to eat and drink across the property that I'd have happily tried had my stay been longer. Even in my short time there, I unintentionally made valuable business connections, so it's excellent for networking too.

On my way out I took advantage of the complimentary breakfast, and the spread catered to every taste and palate. There was even a chef on hand preparing made-to-order omelettes and I think pancakes etc, superb in both taste and quality. The artwork, the aesthetics, the attentiveness and the customer service are exactly what you'd hope for at this level.

This was my third of four hotel of this trip in Nigeria (second of three in Lagos). The Lagos Continental firmly ranks amongst the best five-star hotels I've stayed in worldwide, great value for money in my opinion. I moved on to another pre-booked hotel for the rest of my business trip, which I did reluctantly but the Lagos Continental will be my booking of choice going forward. I'm already looking forward to returning to experience the outdoor pool, roof terrace and spa.

Cons:

Their payment infrastructure is quite outdated. They only accept physical Mastercard payments, and even then, their POS terminals are often unreliable. After a long flight, I ended up waiting nearly four hours in the lobby before being able to access my room. The whole experience felt very frustrating, and the lack of support or empathy from the staff made it even worse.
