A lovely boutique hotel

Had a lovely couples stay here for my first visit to Kansas City. Situated along a creek that seems to separate the primary city portion with various chain stores from what appeared to be an expensive neighborhood on the hillside, it was on the edge of town enough that the building and area were very quiet. Check-in was quick and friendly, there was always someone at the door to let us in and other concert-goers, and we found the area to be very walkable. Beautiful room and view! Quiet and comfortable. We had dinner on the top floor one evening, and while the food was just okay, the sun setting behind the neighboring hill made for a spectacular setting.

Wonderful destination hotel in Kansas City
Pros:

This hotel is gorgeous. Great location near the streetcar and restaurants, top quality rooms, comfortable, friendly all around, great service.

Breakfast both days tastes fantastic. Even though it was just pancakes and bacon, the pancakes were fluffy and the bacon, crispy. Iced coffee was made perfectly.

Shout out to Hailey and Jenna (and Henry) for great service on a Monday morning.

Perfect Spot!
Pros:

My sister and I came to the Fontaine for a sister’s weekend. When we arrived we were greeted by Tashae & Lakota at the front desk and they were amazing. The warm greeting and prompt service let us know immediately we made the right choice when we booked this hotel. Ryan was our valet and he was quick and courteous too. We will make the Fontaine our go to hangout spot when we come back to KC because of this experience!

The hotel is very nice, but I don’t feel our room and stay was worth the price.

Nice location and has parking ramp. Lovely hotel.

Cons:

We arrived and the lady at the check in counter was on the phone with the police about an inebriated lady that needed escorted out. The police showed up and the lady was yelling in the lobby, not complying. The room was nice, bed was comfortable, shower was big. Didn’t sleep well because there was loud banging noise all night as if we were next to a loud elevator. While checking out, I asked if our room was by an elevator or something that would make a loud banging noise like that and was told no but there were stairs farther down. I don’t feel as it was worth the price I paid for the room at all.

Roadside motel in a cheap prom dress

We stopped in KC on our way to Denver and chose to stay at the Fontaine after reading glowing reviews. The location is convenient and the front desk staff is incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel itself is not great. The hotel looked like it needed a deep clean and the hallways and common areas smelled odd. The bed was soft and uncomfortable; and the furniture was cheap and in bad shape. There must be a better place to stay in KC!

OK Stay
Pros:

Overall, I had an OK time at the Fontaine.
Highlights were that the room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable and all the staff interactions I had were excellent (from valet to front desk to waitstaff). It’s also within walking distance to the Plaza.
I got to the hotel early with plans to relax by the pool with a book; however, the pool ended up being a party zone (very loud talking, drunk-ish behavior, etc.). This is not necessarily a complaint, just something I think travelers should know, especially if you’re traveling with kids. I saw a few families come and leave fairly quickly.
Food options felt limited - I thought the restaurant would have a lunch menu and a dinner menu, but it’s one menu for the whole day. I ordered room service (which was quick) and got a burger and fantastic fries… but I also had one of the worst desserts I’ve ever had in my life.
When in KC next, I’ll most likely pass on the Fontaine and try another hotel.

Mostly wonderful!
Pros:

We were celebrating my daughter's Bachelorette party and Amia wss wonderful! Sadly, a fight broke out and the 2 men fighting got scarily close to the couches we were sitting. We were all very shocked by this experience and the level of aggression and hostility we observed at such a beautiful hotel bar. However, Amia handled it professionally and with care and grace. She apologized immensely and we were worried about her and another server who was hit in the head trying to get in between the men fighting. Thank you to Amia...it was wonderful meeting you!

Excellent pool bar

We are KC locals who got a day pass at the rooftop pool. It was a solid pool experience made better by bartenders like Hailey who cared for us. We will definitely be back!
