The whole ambience of the hotel is wonderful, the room was comfortable and the restaurant was excellent. We were greeted by Melanie who instantly made us feel we made the right choice, she is an asset to the business. 🤗
History and ambience, as well as location. Bar and restaurant downstairs as well general facilities. The spa bath was wonderful. We lovef our room.
Central heating was wonderful for Ballarat, but also very warm in our room upstairs on end and rarely have we been able to sleep in singlets in the middle of Winter in Ballarat but we definitely had to last night.
the room was cosy with the heater on to warm the room when I arrived, excellent bathroom facilities, warm towel rack, bed so comfortable.
The main bar wasn't open, only a small bar near the gaming area, which was disappointing , the breakfast could be much better, for a hotel like that, the breakfast was a let down.

service was awful..long wait in the dining room to even get an order taken and they had one staff member on who was chatting to people rather then serving people.
The room was clean, inside was comfortable, cleaning staff friendly, helpful counter staff with questions, room decor impressive along with the entire building.
Multple Air conditioning units just outside our room window. Not really noticeable during the day but at night seem louder.
Worst service ive had for a long time. After being seated in the dining room ( after the staff member said "easy as" to me!) I sat there for 20 minutes without him saying anything to me . I observed, the other 8 tables didn't have anyone eating and he then sat another couple down after me and took their order before saying anything to me. I observed him go into the lobby for 4/5 minutes chatting to someone for some reason whilst the dining room was left unattended. The room was about 40% full. I got up and left after 22 minutes and when i told the front desk it was a "oh he is on his own tonight" . I ended up eating pringles in my room. I assume trying to save money by only having one staff member on but the whole thing was very disappointing.
The room was spacious and comfortable, full of old world charm which was a delightful change, The staircase and old fashioned lift were quite grand.
The staff were very friendly, and the dinner I had was just lovely.
The shower door didn't close properly, so some water escaped

Loved the fact that we were able to wander and explore freely. The building is beautiful and was interesting to learn about the history. Food and service was fantastic!
Not much! The room was a bit too hot which made it difficult to sleep. And we couldn’t cool it down
