A very comfortable and welcoming hotel with good off-road secure parking.
Pros:

The room was clean, a lovely size, warm and welcoming with a super large sash window, comfortable armchair, large wardrobe, desk and great lighting. The en-suite bathroom with a great shower was modern and clean. The bed was very comfortable with crisp, fresh linen which resulted in 2 very sound nights' sleep. Waking in the morning to hear the nearby Church clock was a welcome treat. The cooked breakfasts were delicious and great value for money. Being able to park my car overnight securely was very reassuring. All the staff I spoke with were very welcoming and helpful.

Cons:

There is nothing I can think of that would have improved my stay. It was just what I was looking for and I would definitely like to return in the future.

Pros:

Room was clean and comfortable and exceeded my expectations

Cons:

The noise from the church opposite -the bells are rung every 15 minutes throughout the night!!
The carpet on the stairs was very worn and I was concerned I may trip so had to tread very carefully.
The door to the ensuite bathroom (room 8) sticks and can't be shut properly

Was lovely, comfortable beds and facilities weren’t bad.
Pros:

The location was perfect for us. We headed there for Alton towers. So was great distance.

Cons:

It needs a full refurbishment. I’ve been staying there since I was small but this time it felt old and needed new carpets, and the electric to be looked at in the room.

Very disappointing stay – not suitable for families or longer stays
Pros:

I booked this hotel for two nights. The hotel's location is convenient, as it is right in the town centre, but unfortunately this was by far one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had.

Cons:

From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was extremely cold and unwelcoming. There was no warm greeting or sense that guests were genuinely welcome.

The rooms were extremely basic and lacked many amenities I would normally expect from a hotel at this price. Apart from the beds, there was virtually nothing in the rooms. There was no fridge, kitchenette or other useful facilities. Even the kettle provided was heavily affected by limescale. I complained and was given a replacement, but unfortunately the replacement was no better and I was unable to use it.

The Wi-Fi was also not working. When I reported this at reception, I was simply told that the building was old and there was nothing they could do. Therefore, if you are considering staying here, be aware that you may need to rely entirely on your own mobile data.

Another major issue is the lack of staff and support. Reception is only staffed for limited hours, approximately 10am to 6pm. Outside those hours, there appears to be nobody available to assist guests if something goes wrong or assistance is needed. Calls were also not answered when we tried to get help.

Noise was another problem. The hotel is on a busy road, and the traffic noise combined with the regular church bells made it difficult to sleep properly.

For a family of four staying for two nights, the experience felt very poor value for money. I have travelled extensively and stayed in many different hotels, and unfortunately this ranks among the worst experiences I have had.

I would not recommend this hotel for families or longer stays. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Uttoxeter, I would strongly suggest considering other options before booking.

Finally, as a family of colour, we also felt that the way we were received and treated was particularly uncomfortable. I cannot say with certainty why we received this treatment, but it was noticeable enough that I feel it is important to mention our experience.

Pleasant room
Pros:

Clean and quiet room

Cons:

If the TV was mounted on the wall I could use the table to put things on. The bathroom would be better if it had a shelf and some hooks on the back of the door.
