We did not have the pleasure of staying at The Chedi Andermatt, but we had an experience there that we will never forget.
During our journey through Europe, we were running very low on battery in our electric car, and The Chedi was the only place nearby where we could find an EV charger. We were incredibly grateful that they kindly allowed us to use their charger, but their kindness went far beyond that.
The staff welcomed us so warmly, brought us water, and invited us inside to wait in their beautiful and impressive lobby. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful.
A luxury hotel of this standard could easily have said no, but instead they showed genuine kindness and hospitality. Even though we were not paying guests, we were treated with such warmth, care, and respect.
The Chedi Andermatt is a truly stunning hotel, but what impressed us the most was the generosity and friendliness of the people who work there.
Thank you so much for helping us when we needed it most. We hope to return one day – this time as actual guests.
tutto
nulla
We have now stayed at The Chedi Andermatt twice, in a two-bedroom suite, and it is with real regret that we write this. The building is lovely, the location superb, the rooms genuinely handsome. What is missing is the one thing a hotel of this price is actually selling: service.
Last year our stay was ruined by construction directly beneath the windows. We gave the hotel a second chance this year, and asked — twice — whether there were any works around the property. Twice we received written confirmation, by email, that there were none. We were then placed, once again, in a suite facing an active building site directly in front of the window. The same failure, in the same circumstances, two years running.
It is the management's conduct, however, that we find most telling. They appear content to economise conspicuously on their own guests — the maximum offered was 25%, in no way proportionate to a failure of this order — and seem unwilling even to apologise. To this day we have not heard a single word from the General Manager, who has, to all appearances, quietly excused themselves from the conversation altogether. A personal meeting was proposed; we declined it as pointless, given the tone in which we had been addressed and the way in which every substantive concern we raised was simply passed over.
Beyond this, nothing functions. Room service cannot be reached and muddles orders; emails go unread unless one insists; the concierge was condescending and of no help whatever. The staff are outwardly charming but deliver nothing — they confirm and do not honour, promise and do not follow through.
We have stayed in a great many five-star hotels and have never encountered anything approaching this at such a price point. A beautiful shell, with no hospitality inside it, and a management that appears to regard its guests as an inconvenience. We cannot, in good conscience, recommend it.
Von der ersten Minute sehr wohl gefühlt. Tolle Atmosphäre, sehr schöne Ausstattung, feines Essen.
Beautiful hotel that combines Swiss and Asian design elements. Staff were all very helpful and personally attentive. Every time I asked where a restaurant was, the staff personally escorted me to the venue. The rooms are massive and the bathrooms are very impressive in terms of size and amenities. I was really impressed the amount closet and drawer space. I could easily unpack a months worth of clothes although I only stayed for two nights. The bed is excellent and on par with a Four Seasons bed. The Japanese restaurant is very good and worth the two Michelin stars but definitely for a special occasion. The main restaurant is also excellent for both breakfast and dinner. I note the expansive and unique cheese room. The spa facilities and treatments are top notch and again thoughtfully blend European and Asian elements.
While the property itself is beautiful, our experience during breakfast was deeply disappointing due to the catastrophic attitude of a server named Kitty. She made it obvious that serving us near closing time was a nuisance. Furthermore, despite clearly stating my dairy allergy, I was served regular milk. When corrected, she became defensive and turned the blame on me. This level of service is unacceptable for a luxury establishment.
The Chedi is one of our favorite hotels in Switzerland! We love the beautiful rooms and the exquisite interior design in general. The gym is one of the best hotel gyms I know with the best equipment. The spa is beautiful. The staff is very helpfull and super fiendly everywhere. We loved the food in the restaurant. The Wagu Beef Asian style was delicious. And breakfast is wonderful too. Don't miss the cheese room!
Gorgeous hotel, beautiful room with fireplace and lovely living room and exquisite spa-type bathroom.
The most interesting thing was the tablet that controls everything in the room.
The bed was very comfy with a beautiful mural above the bed. I felt like a queen sleeping on that bed.
This was perhaps my best ever experience staying at this property, the food, the room, the spa, the service, the staff absolutely fantastic. It blew mw away. Yes it was expensive but you get more than your money's worth!!
The rooms are well planned, looking at each detail. The property offered what it stands for the best Asian hospitality experience in a European setting. Would I recommend this experience -- absolutely a must do !
Really great hotel, very nice relaxed vibe. Seamless service, great location. Will be returning in the future for sure. Recommend trying the Japanese restaurant with the Sake pairing.
Incredible suites, splendid design, proper staff attitude. The breakfast and coffee were great, everything you can expect from that kind of hotel. The gym is top notch, and the spa area is gorgeous.
Unforunately althouh the hotel was on it's reopening day, many of the amenities were not accessible. The pool was cold, part of the spa were not usable and there was a slight sewer smell that i'm sure they must have solved by now. They also changed for a new erp that made the check in/check out process rather slow and a tablet we had to use to fill our data that wasn't convenient, not something you'd expect in that price range.
