Nice large rooms in an old heritage building in a good location.
It was loud at night due to neighboring music.
Located well and has genuinely old world charm to it which hasn’t been leveraged. The staff was excellent - particular Alok and the hearing impaired gentleman working at the inhouse breakfast restaurant.
Damp and not very well maintained. Created breathing issues for senior citizens accompanying us. Overall , gave the feel of being a 3.5 star property rather than a bonafide 5 star property.

There is leakage in the washroom and the fittings are also old. Not upto the mark of a 5 star hotel. I have stayed in Lalit Delhi. Though it is older is having much newer and cleaner facilities.

I am writing to share feedback on a recent stay at The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata, which concluded with an early morning checkout on 25th July 2026.
While I have generally valued my association with The Lalit brand, my check-in experience this time was disappointing and, frankly, not in keeping with the standards one expects from a five-star property.
I had booked three rooms for my stay. At the guest relations counter, there appeared to be considerable confusion regarding my booking details. This led to an unreasonably long wait, during which the guests accompanying me across all three rooms were left standing at the counter without clarity on room allocation or status. The staff handling the check-in seemed under-informed about the reservation, and the process that should have taken a few minutes stretched on unnecessarily, causing avoidable inconvenience to my entire party right at the start of the stay.
For a property of this stature, this reflects a gap in front-office training and booking-system coordination that I believe warrants attention. I would appreciate it if you could look into what caused the confusion at check-in, and let me know what steps are being taken to prevent a recurrence for future guests.
I would also welcome a response outlining how the hotel intends to address this specific instance.
Entrance staff were good.
Over rated hotel, poor location and entrance. Not very clean, room wasn't up to 5* standard. Overall not suitable for customers from the western world. Compare to other Lalit chains kolkata os very poor.
Also the room bar fridge was completely empty.
Room allotment was very much delayed, have to wait 5 -6 hrs to get rooms, poor hospitality, foods were also average. Rooms n other facilities were good enough.
