Motel 6-Fort Lauderdale, FL

As an overseas visitor who has travelled globally I decided to revisit this motel having been there before some 35 years ago to see if there had been any changes, I wish I hadn’t. Right from the start no one at reception, two people at the front desk had issues with their room keys which did not open their rooms, finally the reception person arrived pushing used linen in a large basket who seemed rather harassed , nothing nice can be said about him when sorting out the issue; he then turned to me without any welcome and his English pronunciation was bad. I got to my room to find a rather ‘run down’ place with two extremely large beds even though booking had 1 large double bed therefore space was very limited with a small / very narrow space between the two. The bedside lighting lighting did not work so had to rely on the table lamp which was very dull. The smoke detector was ‘hanging’ from the ceiling, did it work I doubt very much; the window glass was badly damaged; the bathroom was in a bad state with very old stains around the edges; the work top in main bedroom beneath the tv had very ominous staines and zoomed kind of marks; overall the room had a distinctive smell which was not very nice. I booked not because of price but reminisce the past visit thing that the takeover many years ago which I think was Accor, a well respected international group, had done good for the chain…I was wrong! There is no doubt the senior management have lost direction possibly with many of their Motel6 properties if this is an example which is a shame as the name is well know throughout the USA…. the only positive was I left morning unscathed when considering the clientele I saw during my stay.
Fort Lauderdale is supposedly a high end tourist market, this Motel6 is certainly not therefore letting down the image of the area, see my pictures.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. The rooms, hallways, and common areas reeked of marijuana. The smell was so strong and overwhelming that we struggled to breathe comfortably.

The atmosphere was extremely uncomfortable and intimidating. Some of the other guests behaved in ways that made us feel deeply uneasy, and we never felt safe during our stay.

The entire environment felt completely unsuitable for a peaceful or secure stay, especially for families. Instead of being able to relax, we were constantly worried about our safety and well-being.

I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this hotel. No matter how affordable the price may seem, it is absolutely not worth the discomfort, stress, and sense of insecurity. I would never stay here again, and I cannot recommend it to anyone.

Lack of service of the room. No cleaning/change of linen/towels for the entire week!

People were up all night slamming doors and being loud in the hallways. Not acceptable when trying to sleep

People fighting in the halls at all hours of the night and knocking on my door at 3am in the morning, asking if I want to buy drugs

I liked nothing. Super nasty.

Human and s*x and drug trafficking happening right on the property, in the lobby and parking lot. Very unsafe for me and my children. Hotel was filthy. I wish I could give it a one star. Walls filthy, reeked of urine and the walls looked painted in feces and urine. People working on cars in the parking lot. disabled cars, all kind of drug activity. The doors to enter and exit broken had to be let in by passersby. I’ve never seen a room more nasty and dirty. Fixture dirty. microwave filthy, and don’t get me started on the bathroom. the grout & the rust! Yuck! I didn’t stay ten minutes! Booking.com refused to refund i had to book another hotel with my own money! Just a mess ruined my trip! Front desk refused to help still haven’t gotten my money back! After I notified booking.com and front desk that I was leaving after minutes of entering the rooms.

it was extremely over priced for what it was and the roadway down the street had an AMAZING breakfast EVERY morning and was consistently cheaper with almost the exact same rooms but their pool and entire grounds were SO MUCH NICER and I have to mention their choice of foliage was extremely pleasing and fragrant ... while this place only had a complimentary BURNT very bitter awful tasting coffee and for the 2 weeks I was there the person above me must have been a professional furniture mover because that's pretty much all I heard other than the howling dogs or the SLAMMING of the extra loud exit door specifically the bar used to open the door I'm not sure why it sounded like it was being karate kicked by everyone that went in and out but I had the pleasure of hearing that about 87 times a night. OHHH and lets not forget to mention the maid will just bust into your room like the kool-aide man every morning with or without warning no matter your response if given the chance to give one and the 2 managers or women in the AM that are the ABSOULUTE ruddest and just mean and nasty

The problem is to ghetto stuff and young boys tryna sale drugs and crack head barely wanted to go out at night it was scary

Guest that came off the st paid $84 no luggage no nothing like they were here for hook ups or prostitution,people nodding on and off like there high, a murder happened while I stayed here my wife and daughter saw the medical examiner carry the body out, I want compensation or a full refund.
