Categories

Cleanliness
7.8
Multiple reports of unclean arrival: crumbs, hairs on bedding, dirty windows, cobwebs and an unclean outside area with rubbish and full ashtrays — cleanliness is noticeably below otherwise high standards.
Service
10
Staff repeatedly described as wonderful, friendly and professional and helpful; one minor report of unhelpful customer service regarding directions but overall service is a standout positive.
Location
10
Consistently praised as superb and minutes from the town centre; a few guests noted difficulty finding the exact driveway entrance and some road noise, but overall location is excellent.
Room Quality
8.4
Mixed room feedback — some love the historic features and four-poster beds, others report pokey rooms, old pillows, broken blinds and road noise; generally comfortable but inconsistent.
Amenities
8.7
Good courtyard and parking security noted, and breakfast service strong, but several guests reported missing items (hairdryer, shower mats, cushions), limited towels and kitchen equipment shortcomings.
Value for Money
8.7
Mostly positive stays but at least one guest felt the price was poor value ('daylight robbery' at quoted rate); overall value is slightly below the hotel's strong positives.
Food and Beverage
10
Breakfast widely praised (excellent options and highly recommended full English); isolated complaint about reheated breakfast, but F&B is generally excellent.
Overall Experience
10
Majority of reviews describe a thoroughly enjoyable, charming and characterful stay with many guests saying they'd return; a minority had a very poor experience largely due to cleanliness or room issues.

Amazing location
Pros:

The location is fabulous and good to have parking in Whitby

Cons:

It needs some love! Someone who cares needs to stay here to realise there is no mirror in the en suite bathroom, that rugs, pictures, cushions would be nice to soften the place. It could be wonderful but it’s lacking in care. The floor and mirrors were really dirty when we arrived sadly.

Disappointing second visit to this property, needs a major clean.
Pros:

The location and parking are without doubt exceptionally convenient. The property is well stocked with facilities and plenty of space.

Cons:

The cleanliness. It ranged from the multitude of cobwebs, clear lack of hoovering and dust-laden extractor fan in the bathroom. More worrying were the black rubbish bags stuffed behind an external wall and rubbish spilling out onto the floor, leading to flies within the property.

Pros:

Really spacious, excellent for families or a group of friends. Has everything you need for a holiday home. Great location, just out enough to be quiet at night but a few minutes walk from town centre.

Cons:

Outside area was not cleaned, full ashtray on table. Lots of full black bags shoved up the side of the building that the seagulls kept ripping open and spreading all over the courtyard. No Outside bin to put any rubbish in.
