Motel 666 (Formerly Known as Motel 6)
⭐☆☆☆☆ (If I could give zero stars, I would)
I stayed at Motel 6 Tallahassee Downtown on Appalachian Parkway during my daughter’s graduation weekend, and this was hands down the worst hotel experience of my life.
Let me start with the insanity: I paid nearly $500 for ONE night. I understand it’s graduation weekend and prices go up—but this wasn’t just expensive, it was outright price gouging for a property that shouldn’t even be operating in its current condition.
I knew booking a Motel 6 meant lowering expectations. I did not expect to walk into what felt like a crime scene.
I was assigned Room 123. The second I walked in, I knew something was very wrong. There appeared to be a bullet hole in the floor. The smoke detector had its sensors covered with electrical tape. There was toilet paper stuffed into holes in the walls. The room smelled like hard drugs—not marijuana, I’m talking about actual drug drugs—and the smell was so strong it got into my clothes, including the suit I planned to wear to my daughter’s graduation.
The bathroom was falling apart. The shower was in terrible condition. The floors had sticky spots all over. The entire room felt unsafe, unsanitary, and completely neglected.
Now here’s the only positive in this entire experience: the graveyard shift front desk employee. I went down and asked to switch rooms, and he handled it professionally. I even brought him up to the room, and he was visibly shocked they had put anyone in there. He apologized, treated me with respect, and got me into another room.
That second room was still bad—but at least it wasn’t whatever Room 123 was supposed to be.
That employee deserves credit. Management does not.
This is not about being a budget hotel—this is about basic human standards. Charging $500 a night for a room in that condition is outrageous.
Graduation weekend is supposed to be about celebrating your child. Instead, I was dealing with a situation that honestly felt like something out of a horror movie. This place shouldn’t be called Motel 6—it should be called Motel 666, because only the devil could justify charging those prices for those conditions.
Do yourself a favor: stay anywhere else. Sleep in your car if you have to—you’ll probably be safer, cleaner, and come out $500 richer

Not 1 thing!
Everything!!! The room had mold in the shower ceiling and it smelled awful😡 the floors were nasty and the hotel was like a party zone! People were outside in front of my room at 4 am and we had to ask them to move on and we're trying to sleep. It was the most nastiest thing I've ever seen and needs to be shut down! I had a 5 night stay and left after the 1st night took the lost and went to another hotel that was cheaper nicer and not to mention very clean! They get a 💯
Love the place and the staff they treat you like family always willing to help you and make feel as comfortable as you can there the best here I recommend this place with all stars
OK location
Bathroom was dirty
Location close to work
Bathroom door won't lock and split and roaches coming from under TV and behind the Dresser.Front door put together with blue tape on lock. Property or Room was nothing like the picture shown on Website.
Overall service and staff. Room was relatively clean, and the bed was very comfortable.
Wifi was relatively stable and fast.
Some of the other guests were a bit loud and noisy.
Not much.
It was filthy. The room had hair from previous guests on the floor and walls and table. The bathroom was DISGUSTING. I will never return.
Best location and very helpful staff.
Very clean and comfortable
Amazing place to stay
Very centrally located place
I like the convenience of having a laundry room and restaurants and other stores in walking distance from the hotel. Thanks 😊
I didn't like that the AC unit was leaking.
