Hotel Castell dels Hams

Arrived late as expected. Buffet laid on for those missing supper was rubbery pizza and chips, some miserable limp salad.
Room was dirty. We complained. Night staff said morning staff would move us. Couldn't care less and didn't update morning staff. We got a cleaner room after a couple of hours discussions and calls to holiday company. One receptionist was outstanding, took over from the shrugging I don't care brigade and did address issues such as rude and uncaring staff, silverfish climbing onto my daighters plate, plates not been cleared and poor air-conditioning blowing mouldy smells and the dirty bedroom.
Don't expect milk at breakfast or tea. Expect to argue for a banana. Expect lots of huffing and open palms thrown up. Expect not to use the customer lift at certain points as laundry doesn't go in a service lift. Expect general scruffiness and poor staffing levels, which it what we were told was the problem.
Expect it to reek of cigarettes smoke.

Havia espetáculos diferentes todos os dias.
Hotel tem parque de estacionamento grátis e transporte para a praia.
Limpeza dos quartos, e espaços comuns (à excepção da piscina) foi bastante boa.

Incredible hotel!

We have not long arrived back to the UK from this hotel and we were gutted to leave! From reading reviews before we left I was a bit concerned about arriving but I found it complete opposite.

The hotel is lovely and big spacious welcoming reception on arrival. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the bungalows and upon arrival the air on was leaking we mentioned it to reception who apologised and fixed it straight away.

The food we thought was fantastic. All inclusive places can be a big hit or miss with food but this hotel we found a hit. Fresh food, always had warm/hot meals, never once was cold like it had been sat ages. And tasted lovely! The restaurant was big and spacious always tables available. And the waiting staff were friendly and welcoming too. Good variety of foods to choose from, zero complaints. Also a great variety of tasty puddings!

The bungalow was fab with being ground floor with a little terrace outside, great for the pram in and out. Also loved the little walkway outside the bungalows with nice plants and lights. Bungalow had a kettle, tea/coffee facilities which I didn’t realise and had packed a travel kettle, also had a fridge with a big bottle of water waiting inside nice and cold. The bungalow was spacious for myself partner and baby. Bathroom also very spacious, no complaints, clean and just a good room to get heads down for the evening.

The entertainment team here are just amazing! Non stop activities during the day, and the evening entertainment was good to. Have to be early to get seats we found but we were happy to sit on the sun beds and watch from there. Also thought it was great they have a little rental place to rent baby floats/ pool noodles/ games etc, just leave a deposit and get it back on return before it shuts at 1pm or 7pm.

Drinks and snack bar were good, staff friendly and welcoming.

Pools were awesome plenty room, children’s pool was shallow and fab with the little splash park also. Pools were clean and fresh with showers dotted around them. Also thought it was good to have 2 sets of toilets by the pools as well.

We didn’t have any issues with language barriers we found the hotel to be extremely welcoming, friendly and always there to help if needed any help was required.

Overall we had an amazing 5 night stay we got a taxi to Porto Christo one day as we missed the free shuttle bus but was only around €6-7 for the journey. Porto cristo is worth a visit for sure with a beautiful beach/ harbour and daytime market (not sure of this is on daily or just happened to be there they say we went).

Hotel just by Dino land and hams caves aswel.

Iv never been back to the same hotel before but I would 100% return to this one, from start to finish we didn’t have one complaint or niggle it was just incredible.

Hotel is around 45 minutes from the airport as well so that was another bonus as when booking the holiday company I booked with said it was around 1 hour 50 transfer so was a huge bonus being there after around 45 minutes from leaving the airport.

Please avoid staying at this hotel!

Although the catering was good and the entertainment staff worked hard, we had a number of problems during our stay .

Most serious was the theft of some of my elderly mum’s jewellery from her room ( 3 rings, a pair of earrings and even a small prayer book). We didn’t notice items were missing straightaway as there was no sign of forced entry. There is no hotel security, and when we reported the jewellery stolen to reception , staff seemed indifferent and just told us which local police station we would need to attend to report the crime. They told us nothing like this had ever happened before.
Whilst we were at the police station another couple arrived also from our hotel. They too had had valuables stolen from their room which was on the same floor as mums room, and on the same day. Indeed we learnt , the couple had spoken to the hotels entertainment staff, who confirmed thefts such as ours had occurred before on a number of occasions, over quite a period of time!

Other issues were the poor Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
We could not connect to the Wi-Fi whilst in our hotel room, this meant my children couldn’t easily use their smart devices, and we couldn’t contact my mum who had initially been placed in one of the hotels ‘bungalows’. The bungalow was some distance from the main hotel building, in which myself and my children had been housed. Worryingly, one night mum said someone had tried the bungalow door in the early hours and she became frightened but was unable to contact us on our mobiles due to lack of Wi-Fi and network signal.
Also the bungalows air conditioning did not work, so the room was like a sweat box, and very poorly lit, it was like being down a coal mine. Really unpleasant conditions for anyone, let alone an elderly lady. After complaining to reception (who at first refused to relocate mum until ‘I had my booking modified’) and contacting the Jet2 UK support team - mum, thankfully, was finally moved to a room on the same floor as myself and my children. It still took 48 hours for this move to occur. Unfortunately the air conditioning in her new room eventually broke, with water running from the unit and pooling on the bedroom floor.
We were so looking forward to our family holiday together. Instead of relaxing, our stay was largely stressful and upsetting.
We don’t want anyone else to suffer the same experience.

Had problem after problem throughout our stay, which meant we left feeling more stressed than when we arrived and extremely disappointed. Some members of staff were very dismissive, regularly telling us there was nothing they could do to resolve our issues. We were moved to three different rooms due to ongoing problems, had a broken phone in one room, and were left without air conditioning from 2am until 10am with no staff member available to help. We submitted an official complaint before leaving and also saw several other guests doing the same, which suggests we weren’t the only ones experiencing these issues.

The hotel’s location was good, with a small nearby beach offering boat tours and a shuttle service provided by the hotel. Unfortunately, the shuttle was a small minibus that only ran every few hours, often resulting in guests competing for the limited spaces. The atmosphere around the hotel was fairly quiet other than in evenings where entertainment was put on.

The hotel itself was generally very clean. Although there were birds nesting on many of the balconies, which meant they were often covered in bird droppings, which I actually found the nesting birds to be quite a charming and unique feature. Overall, I don’t feel like the hotel represented good value for the price we paid, especially given the number of issues we experienced throughout our stay. Had these problems not occurred, I could have viewed the stay differently.

Las instalaciones están genial tiene cuatro piscina y una de ellas es para niños pequeños. Me encantó. Las habitaciones están súper bien y la zona de la animación también está genial. El personal es súper atento y amable. Y está súper limpio, además la limpiadora habitual fue súper agradable con nosotros. Además tiene un buen parking para que no te preocupes por aparcar.

My partner and I had the most amazing time at this hotel, we definitely did not experience any of the negatives expressed in other reviews. The food selection was great with a lot of different things to try and good quality, the staff were so lovely and the entertainment crew were amazing. They kept spirits high throughout the day with loads of activities to participate in, as well as amazing evening shows that involved everybody. Our room was so lovely and very clean, and quite big too! Regarding the noise, we could hear people walking down the corridor particularly if they were being loud but it wasn’t enough to wake us up and we didn’t really mind as it wasn’t super late in the evening. We rented a car so the location wasn’t too important for us, but the hotel is very close to Porto cristo beach which there was a shuttle for. The pool area was lovely and well kept, and there were loads of sunbeds so we never went without one at any time of the day. As someone who currently only speaks English, the staff still made an effort to communicate with us and we had no issues regarding any language barriers. The hotel has loads of different languages including lots of French and Spanish people and a lot of British people too. The entertainment crew spoke everything in French, English and Spanish which was lovely. All in all we had an amazing time and felt very looked after. We will definitely be booking again for next year!

When I had read the reviews of this hotel I was a little apprehensive, but as soon as we got here it was clear that all of these bad reviews were not accurate at all. Although it is mostly a french dominated hotel, staff still speak English. The staff are so friendly and very helpful.

My friend and I stayed for a long weekend with all inclusive in one of the bungalows; the room was very clean, had working aircon and was very quiet and relaxing with your own private patio. The cleaners did an amazing job keeping the rooms clean and providing clean bedding.

As for the all inclusive food at the restaurant, we could not fault it. There were plenty of different options catering for a wide range of people, including basics like pizza and chips for families with children. The food tasted really good. The timing of dinner seemed late to some people starting at 19:30, but there were bar snacks provided between meals.

The pools were all clean and had plenty of spaces to sunbathe. The entertainment was brilliant especially in the evenings, there were so many activities on throughout the day for people to join in on. A lot of sport orientated games, they have a game room inside and a little gym. However, the spa was not available as has been shut since 2020 I believe.

There is a free shuttle bus that takes you into the town of Porto Cristo which is a must. The town is so beautiful, the beach white sandy and so pretty. They also have a little market on Sundays which we attended.

My friend and I are in our mid twenties and felt very comfortable here, plenty of others within this age range that were here as well as families of all ages. We will definitely be coming back here again, we had the best time.

Frukosten ok

Second year in a row we stayed here. To be honest what we paid for an all inclusive holiday you couldn't complain. Nice room, staff,facilities,activities for all ages if you want. Four immaculate pools,entertainment throughout the day and evening. Pool bar and more food and nibbles. Yes,predominantly French but more English this year. Plenty of English meals in the restaurant, tea,coffee, juices etc I could go on. Hotel out of the way from the town and beach which is 10 minutes away by the free mini bus service, and porto cristo beach is fab. Really enjoyable relaxing time. Thinking of going back asap. Enjoy.

The entertainment team get 11/10 they are superb! Food is good and varied. All staff helpful. Comfy mattress in bedroom. Efficient service at the bar.

This hotel is very much a French hotel, and catering is done very much so for them. The food is average and very repetitive from lunch to dinner. There is always pizza and chips with fresh salad so we always found something to eat and for our little one

The dinner hall wasn’t the cleanest as we often found food in the high chairs and under the table Mat from the sitting before us.

In regards entertainment there isn’t anything really for children like a kids disco ect but the entertainment team are fantastic and put so much effort into their evening shows! Can’t fault them.

Safety issues we found, around the pool area there are several trees and one has a big hole around it a good 2ft drop with metal re bar sticking out of the ground. My 1.5 year old fell into this while walking and grazed all her arm and leg.

There is also another big safety concern with a tree that overhangs a lot of sun beds. It has a huge split and the large branch is being help up by the power lines that run underneath. This has been reported to reception and was brushed off as being safe. I was a tree surgeon in the uk for 10 years and this is not safe at all.

I will not be bringing my family back to this hotel !

If you are an ex smoker then don't go, there is no restriction on where you can smoke, so make sure you are upwind. It's very off putting and spoiling a great holiday, I probably wouldn't come back for that reason.

Hotel is off the main road about 2km from Porto Cristo. The road is quite busy, so a walk into town is not advised. However the hotel runs a courtesy bus, probably due to this very reason, every day except Tuesday. Do remember to book your time and seats on the bus - you cannot get on without a booking.
The hotel looks magnificent when you arrive, especially at night when it is all lit up. Room was comfortable and clean.
Food was good, but it would have been better if they had labelled all the dishes on offer, so you could identify the dishes available. Lovely, spacious restaurant, with tables available outside too. One negative - dinner is not started until 19.30, which is a bit late, in our opinion.
The pool area is also spacious, and there were plenty of sunbeds and shade available, with no dramas over "pre-reservations". Lots of leisure activities available - tennis courts, crazy golf, pools etc.
Entertainment staff were great - nice, friendly and talented. Their two shows we saw were excellent. Only one nights entertainment was disappointing and that was the visiting magician.
Lovely shop on site, with a very nice lady serving.
Bar staff were also very nice and friendly - you can serve yourself soft drinks, water, ice creams etc.

Todo en general me gustó,el bufet estuvo bien,las instalaciones bien,a lo único que le pondría una pega es a la habitación (necesita modernizarla un poco)por lo demás perfecto...volveremos a ir
