Mixed reviews
Pros:

The location is perfect for our needs. The manager who booked us in was very friendly and the beds were very comfortable.

Cons:

When booking you need to be told that there is a pub downstairs and there will be loud music until around 4am. There is a leak in the toilet on the floor possibly from the sink next door and the headboards are very old and stained just remove them,. The room is very tired just needs some love. There was no window in the room which was a little unnerving.

Pros:

Location was great. Easy 3 min walk to Sky City. 3 mins to Denny's for a cheap breakfast. Bus to Wynyard quarter.
Basic supplies of tea coffee and milk.
Bed was very comfortable.

Cons:

3 stories of steep stairs. Poor tiny shower with a curtain that's too short. Insufficient toilet paper and Toilet didn't flush properly. No instructions on how to use induction Hob. Just one small pot. One cup for 3 people. Would be better just to have a microwave in my opinion.. TV Terrible. Reception rubbish and hardly any channels. Couldn't use our netflix.

Will not go back again
Pros:

The location of the hotel is just next to the sky tower and really central and convenient

Cons:

I woke up with bites over my body, we suspect it was bed bugs 😭
The window glass was cracked and the window cannot be locked
The walls are very thin and we could hear the neighbouring room’s sounds and noises.
The listing stated there was a tv but there was no tv in the room.

Only if you're backpacking and need a bed overnight

Cons:

Very hard to check in. No elevator and several floors. 3 beds crammed in one room and the bathroom was extremely unsafe. We rented a nice apartment with 2 bedrooms bathroom with washer/dryer and full kitchen a couple blocks away WHICH WAS THE SAME PRICE. We left early without a refund because it was that bad. The building would be amazing and it is historic but has not been kept up AT ALL. There was one outlet and it was in the makeshift closet....Hostel vibes 😬
