Our stay was pleasant: interactions with staff were good, spa facilities were decent, food was good and I enjoyed the variety at breakfast (particularly juice, smoothie and coffee options) but nothing felt very luxury. For the same price or slightly more, I think we could have a much more luxe experience elsewhere.
We had booked a ‘splendid room’ but it fell quite far short of the pictures on the website (appreciate rooms will vary in a property like this) and did not come with a walk-in shower or ‘marble set bathtub’ as described. Instead it had a small bathroom with an average shower in bath set up that actually required bending around the sink to get into and out of, and a shower head that would be too low for anyone close to 6ft - it was tight for me! Some of the skirting was also quite grubby.
Cookies and water at checkout were a nice touch, as were snacks etc in the room, but would have appreciated better hair tools in the spa. While you can request robes in the spa, I also think it would be better to have them available than expect guests to take them from their rooms or walk through bars/past restaurants etc in swimwear and robe. I think this is a good example of where more attention to detail in terms of the guest experience is needed to match the pricing.
Struggled with rating as nothing was really ‘bad’ but for the prices I expected more.
I think you need to stay for a few nights to properly experience this property and make use of the lounges etc, but I’m not sure it’s value for money.
Stunning. Gorgeous hotel, great facilities, food and staff.
Nothing. Couldn’t fault it
We have previously visited for afternoon tea and were really looking forward our visit.
A beautiful building and location and staff were very polite.
This visit wasn’t a patch on the previous.
Scones were dry, overcharging for water plus the discretionary service charge.
Once we returned home, we were both ill.
This place is a must stay! Absolutely beautiful, relaxing and an experience in itself! We dined at MO for the tasting menu one night and it was a fun, interactive experience. The other nights we dined at the hotel restaurant and everything we ate was delicious. The breakfast is also top notch and the shed offers a great place for an afternoon tea, or cocktail and light bites. The hotel staff was attentive, welcoming and professional and the property grounds are immaculate! This place is worth staying at for the experience if you want a quiet, peaceful place to escape. Location is near Broadway as well as drivable to the Cotswold Distillery if you want a fun day activity/tour. The rooms were generous in the suites and the spa was also relaxing and very well set up. Access to the sauna/pool area as a hotel guest was an added bonus to recharge and the dining space off the space is a great spot to enjoy the sun, and sip on your tea, coffee or drink of choice over sweet treats or lunch! Everything is added to your room so you don't have to worry about carrying around a form of payment and makes for a luxurious, relaxing stay! We will be back!
The view from the restaurant into the garden was exquisite.
The waiter forgot about us at dinner so I had to go and ask for a menu. Similar thing happened at breakfast.
Dormy House is a regular haunt for lunch for us in the Bar Restaurant.
A simple Menu but beautifully done.
Sitting on the Terrace on a Summers Day ,set in fantastic countryside, is just perfect!
I had the Prawn Sandwich , packed with Prawns and super flavours . Mrs T the Caesar Salad , brilliant and the best I’ve tasted . Super quality ingredients.
Finished with two scoops of their ice cream . The Apple flavour was really stunning.
Always memorable and a quality experience at Dormy - Thank you
Outstanding place to stay. The staff were exceptionally attentive. The hotel is beautiful. It's lovely short hike into the town of Broadway, through fields where sheep are grazing. It's everything you imagine the Cotswolds to be!!!
Everything
Nothing
The peacefulness of the property is what stood out the most. Having spent an incredible few days in London, the setting at the Dormy House was exactly what we were looking for.
The quaint layout, fabulous food & beverage and kind and helpful staff
Breakfast excellent location good
Value for money. Not much atmosphere or feel good factor
The grounds and property were stunning and a joy for the senses. The food was well made and had a strong variety, which does not always happen. Going to lunch at their sister hotel was also fabulous. Shout out to Amy C. who met our needs with grace and efficiency.
We’ve just returned from a fantastic two night stay, celebrating a ‘big’ birthday.
I did a lot of research beforehand in an effort to find the right hotel - luxurious with spa, excellent food and great service - and I have to say Dormy House certainly met if not exceeded my expectations.
From the moment we arrived and were greeted in the car park it was all smooth sailing.
What a lovely touch that is. We really felt welcomed.
The staff are hugely professional yet friendly and helpful. All are knowledgeable and willing to put the guests first should anything be requested. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay.
Dinner at MO was excellent and tremendous fun. We would highly recommend trying it.
I’m pescatarian and the meat course was swapped out for me with no fuss ( the replacement dish was delicious.)
Breakfasts and another evening meal in The Back Garden were also excellent and thoroughly enjoyed.
Staff here were delightful too. Despite looking for a luxury hotel I didn’t want one with a stuffy atmosphere and Dormy House get this spot on. Excellent attention to detail without fuss and always with a smile.
Bedrooms were fantastic and delivered exactly what we were looking for. Thank you to the housekeeping staff who looked after us incredibly well. Great turn down service.
Spa was luxurious and not overly busy. Wonderful facial!
The surrounding area offers lots of interesting walks and places to visit: Broadway and Broadway Tower, Batsford Arboretum, Stow on the Wold, Moreton in Marsh, Hidecote and Sezincote. Lots and lots to do.
So, in conclusion, a really memorable weekend.
We are already planning a return visit.
Another fabulous stay at Dormy House Hotel
It’s a beautiful property with well character and style
As in most old buildings you get a bit of noise between the floors
Very pretty . Good spa
Never answered the phone so could never resolve issues . Communication was very poor.
La cama muy cómoda
Desayuno de calidad
Muy bien ubicado
En el baño la ducha era muy muy baja y tienes que agachar mucho la cabeza para poder mojarla
the Dormy house is a stunning hotel with a relaxed atmosphere in five star surroundings. The food is excellent, the staff exceedingly kind and it is a welcoming experience
While all the amenities of the hotel are superb, our room could have been better. For such a high end hotel, our room lacked a certain luxury. I do not know if it is like this in the main house but the walls are very thin, the bathroom small and the room was austere for such a nice hotel. We chose Dormy house because the rooms were more modern than some of the dated old manors so in that sense it is great, but after experience the STUNNING main areas, the rooms lack a little of that same luxury
