The hotel is Victorian with large gardens and less than 10 minutes walk from both the town and beach. It has an old fashioned feel with friendly staff and good service. Food was good with the dinner menu changing each night. The room was spacious, quiet and clean.
Minehead is well positioned for visiting Exmoor, Dunster Castle, Lynmouth, Watersmeet and the Valley of the Rocks.
Overall a good place to stay for a short break.
This is a lovely hotel near the town centre of Minehead. The room was very clean and had lovely views over the Bristol Channel. Another nice thing is that it has a large car park and a lovely large garden in which we sat in the evening.
Northfield has for some time been the best hotel in Minehead - and it is now also the best place to eat. Set in its own mature gardens on a hill looking out onto the Bristol Channel, but a short walk from the promenade and the town centre, Northfield Hotel is the best surviving of the 'grand hotels' from Minehead's heyday. Easy access to the South West Coast Path with circular walks past the harbour and up on to North Hill before heading back through the old town. It also has ample parking, which is a distinct advantage in Minehead.
We have eaten at the hotel before, but it seems to have upped its game and now offers what is probably the best dinner in Minehead and at a very competitive price. Excellent breakfast too.
Nothing serious. It is an old hotel requiring lots of maintenance, so don't expect it to be pristine in every nook. But, having said that, our room was elegant and very comfortable.
Location and pleasant and friendly staff
Very old and in need of serious updating. Extremely hot which was very uncomfortable.
The rooms are in very poor decor, our room marketed as a 'superior room' was right at the end of a long corridor with rotten window frames, windows that didn't open more than an inch,, stained carpet, marks on the walls, mismatched furniture with knob missing from wardrobe door, bath towel with a large stain on it, the television had been left in audio description mode and subtitles which rendered it irritatingly unwatchable. A serviette from previous room occupant was left in the room our entire stay, drinking water in the room was not replenished, it was exceptionally hot in the room with just one fan which had dirty and dusty blades to try and keep cool. We stayed half board, one of us having a food intolerance which had been emailed and discussed in advance of our stay, but each evening after having been allocated a table for our entire stay, a bread roll was already placed on the table, as though no attention paid to being advised of an allergy/intolerance, if the allergy reaction was extreme, this could have provoked a bad situation. Food was mainly lukewarm on arrival to the table, and breakfasts despite asking each day for soft yolks, arrived dried up. At breakfast, a lot of items were not replenished by staff such as fruit and juice, so you need to be quick! The cost of the stay was not reflective of the standard of the room/food in my opinion.
The breakfast was very good, choice, catering for all taste and health options.
It was all good. There was nothing we didn't like.
Superb breakfast. Very dog friendly hotel. Lovely garden and patio.
Maybe a/c in room as quite hot.
Staff and location were excellent
The hotel is a beautiful building in a lovely location,BUT it is in need of a really good clean and a lick of paint.
We had water coming through our bedroom ceiling...we expected to be moved ,but that wasnt forthcoming.
The breakfast was poor-cold and not very appetising.
It was very spacious and the rooms were very clean.

Super nice place. Very friendly staff and really nice rooms. Comfortable bed. Clean and fresh.
The wonderful welcome I received when arriving at the Hotel reception desk. Also the fast service and friendly conversation whilst being served at the bar as I tend to be rather shy . The pool was also much appreciated after a walk along the harbour. Would like to stay there again.
Nothing. All good.
L emplacement
L état délabré. Le prix, trop élevé.
Spacious room with king size bed. Good selection of refreshments. Situated up a side street with sea views. Swimming pool and sauna available. Free parking.
The cooked breakfast was not of a high standard. The continental aspect was ok.
Large bedroom and bathroom.
Amazing views.
Friendly, attentive staff.
Location, easy walking distance to pubs and restaurants etc.
Some furniture dated and signs of wear.
Some parts of hotel had been refurbished, so maybe more to follow.
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom was well equipped. The staff were also very friendly.
It would have been great to have a couple more offerings of tea I.e. camomile or green. Breakfast being served earlier than 8am would also have been a bonus though there was an option to see if a roll would be possible slightly earlier which is good!
Nice, friendly staff, nice breakfast, good size room, decent facilities.
The cleanliness around the pool area was poor. Yes, the decor was a little tired in some areas, but there's no excuse for not having clean doors, floors, walls, etc.
