The room and decor were great ans the staff were lovely.

Room 3 was tiny. Very difficult to move around and nowhere to store our suitcases.
A good selection of cooked breakfast options that were very good and quickly cooked. The location was perfect, about a 15 minute walk down one road to get to the heart of York and the hotel itself is in a lovely and leafy area. Room was nice (garden room), private and comfortable with all the amenities that you'd require including air conditioning machine, fridge, kettle etc. Pleasant staff and nice decor etc.
We felt that the garden was looking very tired, dead plants in pots, uncut lawn, timber decking breaking away etc. The entrance to the garden room felt the same also which was a shame. Decking breaking away and dead/brown plants in the planters right outside the windows. It just felt a little tired and not what you'd expect of a 5 star hotel. The breakfast rooms decor was also a little tired and scuffed in places.
This is a real character property with lots of lovely features. The room we had was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. The shower was surprisingly vibrant with good water pressure and to top it all the staff are extremely friendly
The extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work so we had to keep opening the window.
The location was great - walking distance in to the town centre. The staff were friendly and accommodating.
We booked the 'small queen' - that was a mistake. This room is tiny and not fit for two people / a couple - it's difficult for two people to move around in this room at all unless one of you stands on the bed and you're basically doing a drop off and sleep. It felt like they'd managed to squeeze a bed into a very nicely decorated cupboard. No space for a bed side table or a fridge. You could also not move around in the shower and the shower head hold was broken so it was braving the waterfall with cold water or hand holding throughout. Would not recommend booking the small queen unless you're travelling alone and don't plan to spend more than one night.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Size of room, especially the bathroom was very large and well presented. The décor was exceptional in the accommodation and thought the hotel which was a very pleasant surprise.
The breakfast was of a good standard with great waitress service.
Nothing really comes to mind, however leaving my car keys with the reception thought our stay was bit unusual, however understandable regarding the car park situation.
The property was in an excellent location a short 10 minute walk from the shambles, it was decorated beautifully and the staff were fabulous!
The suite we stayed in was beautiful but it had a winter tog duvet on, I know the UK can get cold but it was too warm for us so made our night a bit sleepless!
