Find a better place than this Showa-era mammoth hotel.
Pros:

A decent breakfast buffet.

Cons:

We booked a Sakurajima view room. The room we got indeed had a view on the volcano — which served as a backdrop to a vast vista of pachinko parlors and strip malls, garishly illuminated and quite ugly. Also, the smoke from the indoor smoking area permeated the entire first floor.

Pros:

The hotel's facilities are dated (in a traditional way) but our stay was very comfortable, the room was clean, and we didn't lack anything there. The view from the hotel room was spectacular and made up for the remote location. A shuttle bus to the train station and to Tenmonkan was also provided, which was convenient. We could definitely recommend the Sun Royal Hotel.

Cons:

We did not use the onsen due to the firm tattoo restriction but we were aware before, so it was not an issue.

でも満足しました。桜島は雄大だ
Pros:

なんといっても、部屋から桜島が見える景色は、よかったです。
朝日が上がってきたのは感動的でした。
スタッフさんの気配りも良かった。

Cons:

お風呂の温度が高い。
子供が入れなかった。
浴槽が一つしかないので、逃げ道がなかった。
あと大きな宿泊施設なので仕方がないのですが、
朝食後ものすごく混んでいた。
初見では、その後の予定が厳しいかも

スタッフの皆様の笑顔をともなう雰囲気などとても優しく感じます。

Cons:

水回りなど設備については築年数が経っているので古さはやむを得ないです。
一階レストラン、朝食時のオペレーションが悪すぎます。
ホテルで味わえる食事の雰囲気でない。

Outstanding views and customer service!
Pros:

The views of Sakurajima from the 13th floor Onsen and from the bedrooms are exceptional. Rooms were clean and spacious. Beds and pillows comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - outstanding customer service. There are nice waterfront walking paths that would be great to jog around in the early morning before it gets too hot.

Cons:

It is really far from the airport, which we didn’t expect as we were originally arriving by ferry when we booked the hotel. It’s a 55 minute taxi or 1 hour 15 on the bus (two separate busses). It’s also pretty far from any major attractions. Sengan-en is 55 minutes by bus but only 15 minutes to drive. We took a taxi to Shiroyama Park (15 minutes, Y20,000) and also to Amu plaza for the Ferris wheel (about the same). Easy enough to get around but just be mindful you will need to travel at least 15 minutes and pay for the taxi or a bus.

bon hotel tant pour les voyageurs solo qu'en famille ou qu'entre amis
Pros:

l'hotel est bien entretenu.
Le personnel est gentil serviable
la chambre est bien agencé
à 06h aller à l'onsen et voir le volcan c'est d'un calme reposant et d'une force franchement rien que pour ça il faut y passer une nuit.

Cons:

que la machine du lavomatic ne prenne que des pièces de 100 yens.
