Recommended stay for anyone visiting Durham
Pros:

Great location, the staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the check in times were very accommodating to a late traveller

Pros:

Great location in centre of town with a great welcoming staff. Room quite large and spacious with everything you would need. Provided ear plugs for the street noise.

Cons:

It is let down a bit by the single glazed historic windows, you can hear the street noise, even a on a Wednesday night with students returning from nights out. Ear plugs did help though.

Good value for money and location.
Pros:

Great location, though no parking (I knew that though, I didn't need it on this trip)

Cons:

The booking.Com advert inferred there was a 'superb beeakfast' included (I always try booking accomodation with breakfast provided).
It turns out there was no breakfast included, apparently no functioning kitchens present.

The room was also a bit cool, which I didn't know how to change, but was OK otherwise.

But I can't complain re price, it was still reasonable value for money.

Perfect for Durham city centre exploring
Pros:

Lovely staff. Welcoming, relaxed, efficient, helpful.
Nice, clean room. Had everything we needed.
Appreciated the complimentary earplugs, although we didn't need them.

It was convenient, accessible, clean & comfortable!
Pros:

The location was very convenient for walking to the town and exploring the bars & shops! You don't always know what you might get with a pub hotel but I was impressed how clean and comfortable the room was! The staff were very friendly too!

Cons:

I wasn't expecting the toilet in my room to be a little noisy which at first did bother me but I did get told it was down to being a very old building and with that I totally understood!

Lovely old building right beside the historic centre of Durham. Friendly welcome, very clean and comfortable room and a very reasonable cost for two nights. Recommended.

A great stay right at the city centre
Pros:

The location is great as it is right in the city centre. The room was comfortable and light and the bathroom was big and there was good shower pressure which is rare in similar accommodations. The coffee and tea making facility is great.

Need a towel rail in the bathroom and a wardrobe in the living area.

Cons:

Traffic noise in the first floor rooms.

Great location, great place, nice staff, very clean, smaller room space re design tweaking needed
Cons:

Really nice place but my room, number 6, does not have a toilet facility that works for a man (18 stone) of my size.

Great shower but a shelf to put soap etc. is an essential addition

A short but sweet stay at the City, well worth the money.
Pros:

The one-person room I was in was cute and cozy. It had everything needed for my one-night stay, and some friendly little welcome treats. The bed was also good quality and I slept well. There wasn't any breakfast, but there are lovely cafés quite near, as it is at a very central location.

Cons:

Since the adjacent pub was not open yet at the check-out time, I didn't find a way to have my luggage stored for the day, which would've been quite practical.

Comfortable, good value room right in the centre of Durham.
Pros:

Great location, right in the centre of Durham, beside the Elvet bridge. Large, comfortable en-suite room. Excellent decorative condition. Friendly staff (in the pub).

Cons:

My room was at the front of the building, so some road noise at times, although not at night. I didn’t find it troublesome but some people might.
