Excellent stay in the heart of Santa Barbara
Pros:

The location is hard to beat, right inside the funk zone. The room was spacious, modern, clean, quiet, with strong air conditioning to battle the heat of Santa Barbara in summer. It is pricey but I guess you get what you pay for. Reception desk gave us some solid recommendations on where to eat and drink in town too, which was highly appreciated.

The room was simple but adequate for a one night stay.
Pros:

The location was excellent and it was an old style motel and you could park right outside the room for free. The bed was comfortable and the linens nice. The room was clean. The young men in the office were very helpful.

Cons:

The room was old and simple. Literally, no frills, no extra toiletries, no bottled water. The $400+ per night was steep for what you got.

Pros:

Closer to most of the amenities.

Cons:

Unfortunately, there was no pool or breakfast available, and we had to purchase water ourselves. It would be much appreciated if the hotels could offer complimentary water bottles for guests.
